makes me sick... Democrats today would rather take their hard earned vacation than vote on a energy bill .

I hope George Bush makes them end it to vote next week !!!

GOP members stage House protest
Posted: 04:40 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) — The microphones were off and the lights were dim, but more than a dozen House Republicans refused to go home Friday after the body adjourned for August recess.

The protesting conservatives gave impromptu speeches and nearly filled the seats of the chamber with staffers, Boy Scouts and tourists, in an attempt to pressure Democrats to hold a vote on offshore drilling and other GOP energy ideas. Republicans claim some 45 congressmen took part.

All sound systems had been turned off as soon as the House went into recess. But the noise was easy to hear from outside the chamber. The crowd on the floor chanted, “Vote! Vote! Vote!” after Congressmen Tom Price, R-Georgia, called for more action on energy and urged each person to tell 10 others to join the cause.

Tourists who were signed up for tours with Republican congressmen and senators were ushered in to fill seats on the chamber floor, and voiced their support of the event. But tourists with passes from Democratic offices watched from above, in the balconies. “I was not impressed at all,” said Sue Miller from Memphis, Tennessee. “Democrats did not have a chance to defend themselves.”

He might, unless he's on another one of his semi-annual month-long vacations.

Wow, I wonder how many of you sat in disgust as the last two "R" run congresses had the LOWEST amount of time in chamber and in votes than any other session ever?  I believe they went on vacation to protesting Dem minorities too...even on real national security issues if I"m not mistaken (searching now).  I hope Boner doesn't cry when he goes home tonight...friggen hypocrites.

lol!  I remember you doing this same thing in attempted conversations past..bringing up "the other guys" and me/others saying the same thing!

ALso, do you even know what the debate was about?  DId you bother to realize that they've been going back and forth in what is often a lose/lose debate for a proper energy bill?  And because such important things have been set aside for vacation or more worthy debate (Schiavo and her "right to life" campaign in the Rep house/senate), hypocrisy and mocking are completely relevant.   Also, these same Rep clowns bitching about the Dems adjourning are the same ones who slept through their last few terms in office doing nothing while the Dems pissed and moaned about getting important voting done.

Nope.  They've failed miserably at their intended jobs.  Did you think otherwise?

I had expected them to shift Americans from Iraq to Afghanistan as it was a winning talking point they used to "redeploy" as they said.  They said they'd stop the rubber stamping yet they don't even bother arguing with the white house for war spending anymore...gutless turds.  Obama is saying the same thing and promising redeployment to Afghanistan immediately when he takes over...with no opposition..will it happen?

Telecoms have their immunity, warrantless wiretapping abounds, laptops/ipods/phones/papers/gum wrappers with writing on them are now siezed at international airports without any due process, habeas corpus is still on hold, just to name a few things...

But hey, Heller won!!!

Yes they can, cut funding.  But they don't have the balls to keep their promises.

YEA! That's right! We'll show them!  They did it to us so we'll do it to them.  Yea. Screw the Republicans.... Weak.  When the country needs them, they scurry off.

Also, just because a congress doesn't pump out a shit load of new laws doesn't make it a bad congress.

On the bright side, they are gone at least for a while.  They can't do any damage if they aren't there.  Maybe they won't come back.....

They should keep their promises yes, but they also shouldn't make promises that they know they can't uphold. Congress can't reasonably do it alone, we all know how well just cutting funding would go.

Well, the dems did try..or pretend to when they didn't pass a couple funding bills.  THe pres got to use his previously unused VETO stamp along with some pissing and moaning about how they hate the troops and don't want to pay them...

I think after a couple veto's, they just gave up.  THey even said impeachment is off the table..not sure why, maybe some rendition or warrantless wiretapping threats were made against them.  So yeah..we'll have an eventless 2008.

Gee, they sure did try hard.

Firstly, you can override a veto, and secondly, don't promise what you can't deliver.

I am still waiting to be Drafted like the Dems said would happen if Bush got re-elected.

tbh, I wish everyone in washington would take more and longer breaks so they don't fuck up this country any worse than they already have.  Anyone who would argue in support of either of these Anti-American parties is a total asshat and should not be listened too because they are just a fanboy and not worried about America.

As if only the Dems get elected because of that?

What about all the BS about the Iraq occupation ending within a year?  Or Mission Accomplished... lmfao

Bottomline... the country wants out of Iraq.  And the Dems cant do a thing about it until they get more people elected into congress.

Just because all the cool kids are doing it doesn't excuse it. It's still wrong.

Well they certainly thought they could before the election.
