Tippman and Ion are hardly "good guns"NeXuS wrote:
If you're going to spend money, spend it on good guns. If your doing tactial games. Buy tippmann brand guns, such as the x7 a5 and 98c. If your going for tourny, buy the high brands like smart parts etc etc. I wouldnt advise buying guns that come with the mask, hopper, and 12o Co2 Canister.
If your looking for a cheap, good, reliable marker go with a Dangerous Power G3 or proto slg 09
oh so thats why every paintball shop around me carries 98c's for rentals. Maybe because they are easy take care of, can take ALOT of punishment, and are perfect for beginners?[HOF]Mercenary wrote:

And i only said SP were good high end guns because of the ION. It's not the godliest gun but it's the least cost full gun that worth a shit.
That's also why nearly ever single field here offers Tippmanns as rentals too, right?
Tippmanns are great guns.
They're cheapER, and more reliable.

I happen to be sort of a paintball enthusiast. In my experience, Spyder tends to be very unreliable and break easily, while Tippmanns are quite reliable and durable. I say this as the owner of multiple Spyders and Tippmanns both present and past.
Here's my little Arsenal:

My sidearm, a Delta .68 pistol. It takes the little 12 gram co2s and I have three, 12 round clips for it

My Spyder TLX that I combined with an airsoft gun to make a paintball F1 FAMAS.

This is my Tippmann A5 which I modified to an MP5K PDW. I mainly use it for games in small areas such as villages and for speedball.

My pride and joy, my Tippmann 98 Custom modified to an M82A1. I generally use it for games that have a lot of open space or that last a long time, plus it works great with my ghillie suit. This was my second gun ever (upgrades came over a large timespan) and the oldest one I still possess having been bought in 2001. Still works beautifully today and has given me almost no problems. The 98c is easily my favorite gun.

Am I seeing this right? 500$+ for a decent gun?
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
$200+ in my opinion atleastmax wrote:

I'll stick to real guns then. Much cheaper (here)

Eagle: Is all that jazz on your markers necessary?
I just got a stock, new barrel, and a NcStar sight on mine.

Why call it a marker and not a gun?
Does that make you feel like a nub?

Marker is the "politically correct" term.FFLink13 wrote:

We don't like associating paintball with war.
We had a rewards day too, but paintballing wasn't an optionKptk92 wrote:

To quell some myths in this thread:
Smart Parts is not high end. Maybe Ion is not but Soccer is, and Ions are still the best fucking markers for the price
Longer barrel does not mean more accuracy. Not necessarily, and the inside diameter is the most important factor. I like my Freak with 6 inserts
Most paintball engagements happen at roughly 20-80 feet. Indeed
Sights definitely help. At least on markers that don't shoot like shit.. Most good (tournament) markers do not have sights for one simple reason: They are not needed. It's all about reflexes and knowing how the balls fly, I haven't ever even looked down the sights of a marker to hit something.
Tippmanns are awesome. They are awesomely reliable and decent for forest games. For anything competetive they suck ass majorly.
Spyder is a brand for newbies. Spyders are mainly a cheap brand to start the game with. Not too bad if they don't break.
Milsim players are idiots. It's all about preference. (I haven't ever been into milsim but I have nothing agains those who are)

The inside diameter is because of the paint to barrel match, the most important factor in accuracy.
Tournament sights are not needed because they shoot off a full case at one guy. One of those paintballs is bound to hit.
..But seriously, they can just walk the rope of paint to their target. I don't like wasting paint.
Every single Milsimer I've met (except for one) is a moronic overweight 30+ year old who knows jack-all and tries to convert everyone into being like him.
I'd consider myself a milsimer and I'm 19, just finsished my third year of varisty football, and really don't care what other people doDefCon-17 wrote:

EDIT: I am, however, moronic though

I prefer and do airsoft.

My Marker Tippmann 98 Custom Pro. Mod changes were a larger hopper (hate reload), camo tape, and 12" barrel.
The optic scope belongs to my friend's marker
