Userinit.exe - Application Error

According to Google it is a common virus. Basically when I boot up it gives me a pop up error with that message and says click OK to terminate. It disables all shortcuts and the taskbar leaving me with a blank desktop. It also disabled my taskmanager.

Safe mode doesn't work either.

I tried doing a repair install of XP but that didn't work.
Every fix I researched is either impossible at my PC's state or I tried it and it did not work.

Does anyone know of a solution to my problem?
Any help would be appreciated. I'd rather not reformat, but if I have to I will.

Don't surf questionable sites
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I can across that earlier, it's kinda useless information to me at this point, but thanks anyway.

I think I got it from a certain download from Garrysmod.org.
The most questionable site I've been on as of late was maybe redtube, lol.

Sounds like it's a virus if userinit.exe is in C:\Windows. Otherwise it's just a horribly annoying problem with Windows.

This is free and will catch just about anything.

I'd try it but I can't access any programs at all.

userinit.exe is a key process in the Windows operating system. On boot-up it manages the different start up sequences needed, such as establishing network connection and starting up the Windows shell. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

Correct. And the virus adds itself to the 'queue'. Problem is if a virus scanner removes said virus, it doesn't remove it from the userinit queue, and the computer is in a perpetual state of loading.

Explorer.exe hasn't loaded yet, but it can be force-started in Task Manager. However anything requiring RunDLL32.exe (a LOT of Windows shit) won't work as userinit hasn't started it yet.

You could try my favourite little program of the month, ComboFix (I've recommended it once already today, shows how much I like it ).

Remember folks, if you're going to recommend something it'll have to be third-party, as any Windows tool is pretty much rooted because of the whole Rundll32 thing.

CMD doesn't work either.

I've decided to just reformat my computer. I didn't have any important files on it. I just used it to play source games. So all of my progress in my games will be lost and I'll have to re-download everything, which is a pain in the ass. W/e it was a secondary rig next to my Mac.

Oops, sorry, didn't notice that in the OP. That is seriously fucked up.
