1) You can't fight fanboys.
2) I hate Apple, not the iPhone.

Good review for the most part, if I was in the market for some sort of phone/pda/fuckingsmorgesborgofgeekypotential I might consider it.

I cant use the (I phone) because my fingers are too big for it. Mash like 3 buttons at a time sometimes. I see no use for it anyways. I have yet to buy my first cell phone.

my dad just bought two of these, one for himself, and one for his co-worker, (He owns a small buisness and buys employees phones and fits the bill)

I have the first one and love it, I would like a 3G connection and a regular headphone jack and the GPS feature (I have a terrible sense of direction) but he doesnt want to lay down another 200$ for a new one

I was checking them out at the AT&T store though, tbh, the thing feels, cheap... I like how mine feels solid, and has a metal back but the 3G iPhone's back is plastic, and the thing feels light... Bottom line, feels like it breaks EASY, or it cracks...

My question for you - Have you dropped it yet? Had any damage to it? How is the actual body of the phone?
Yeah, I was pretty much like yeah... I think im going to keep my 1st gen, cause you can actually tell if you have your phone with you or not cause of the weight.

Okay, lets say you buy a nokia N13213 with you own money paying 200€.
Then do you think I will come to you and say "ohh, why would you buy that when you can buy this the nokia E312332".
If someone wants to buy an Iphone leave him alone, its his money not yours.
And no, i'm not a apple fan boy.

There are some things I don't get, though.

The iPod nano and video are able to play movies with progressive scan, iPhone only plays interlaced.
The iPod nano and video can send audio/video out using the headphone jack, letting you charge it at the same time.
The iPhone doesn't let you send video out using the headphone jack, so you have to use the dock connector.
If you have a dock connector AV kit from your old ipod, sux2bu. You need the new version for it to work.
Why? Because the old ones weren't able to charge while you watch movies on a TV.
Therefore, they were all made "incompatible". Oh, and it gives apple and extra $50.
Also, why no MMS? I would think it would be amazingly simple to implement.

yeah, but if they had implemented it from the start, they could do some cool things with Photos, and videos. Sending them in a few clicks etc.

But, I guess they believe that e-mail is the definate future of multi-media messaging on phones.

The thing is, that's exactly what 90% of the Apple/iPhone/iX users do.

Well, most users of anything, actually; If you get something and pay a lot for it, your brain tells you it was worth it, because you want it to be, even if it's shit.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Where'd you get that figure.. I know about 10 people with iPhones and I can assure that 9 of them did not buy it because of its status factor.

Ok with me, I'm happy paying half as much as you for 99% of market support

There was an OP?

I'm going to wait for a price drop, followed by newer models, etc because it's inevitable.

But imo it makes more sense to have an iPod and standard phone for a number of reasons.

The typical iPod holds much more data than 16gb and a phone that costs less than $500 is better than paying the $500 difference from the ipod touch to just get the iphone.

I don't need 80/160 gigs of space for my music though. I only have 1600 (exactly, actually) songs and 7.71 gigs of music. I needed both a new phone because my two year contract on my Razr was up and my iPod Nano only could hold 1.77 gigs of music. This was two in one. Works out well for me and saves me money.

If I had something like 40 gigs of music, I'd probably have done what you said though. Get a 160 gig iPod and get something like an enV2 (verizon phone with a keyboard).
