My GF got a phone call the other day, where a company was asking if she ordered a $2000 laptop.  To which she replied "WTF? no!"

Luckily, the company which the order was placed called ahead, and either cancelled the sale or took it over to investigate it.

While that's not quite identity theft outright.  It still was pretty crazy.   She didn't lose her card.  It was in her purse when it happened.

So, she had to get a new card, not a big deal, and keep a close eye on other accounts.


So, anyone else have this type a thing happen?

Yep. My bank card was cloned. Some tosser tried using it in Toronto, some where else in Canada and Harrogate in Blighty. The abortions did'nt get any money because my bank were all over it like a tramp on chips. Hope the fuckers get raped by a polar bear!

Be careful when using your card at cash points. Try using inside banks and cover the number pads when typing in your pin!

Someone got my account number online somehow and I tried to be charged on ebay for an elephant statue that was $500...im still arguing with the seller that it wasnt me and i had to close my ebay and paypal accounts

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

For her it was a credit card, so she'd enver use it at a bank machine. she DID however, make phone calls to deliver food, giving them her CC number, which is where I suspect something happened.
