I saw Stephenie Rice swim for the first time wish they showed her receiving a gold medal, sucks that Natalie Coughlin got behind during the backstroke though.
USA kicked ass in the 4x200, that was amazing. Thank goodness they saved their worst swimmer for last too or we would of been screwed.

I just saw them give medals to the gymnastic athletes(was disappointed that USA got silver), the Chinese women in blue dresses holding the trays of the medals and flowers were hot.

Have been watching the rowing - six out of eight of our rowing teams got to the final. I'm upset for Emma Twigg who was doing really well and lost third place by 5 hundredths of a second. She did NZ proud though but understandibly she'd still be gutted. She's got a long career ahead of her anyways.
The NZ Men's 4s also missed out on third by a very small margin, damn French. A solid effort by everyone involved in that race.
Our most likely gold contender Mahe Drysdale gave us a massive scare by coming third in his semi, only a bit ahead of the Greek bloke. My hope is that he's trying to make himself look like he's not a threat as I noticed at the 250 metre mark he didn't step up another gear like the other rowers. That's what I hope anyway.
Nathan Cohen and Sydney gold medal winner Rob Waddell put in a solid race but also just managed to grab third.
The best NZ rowers at the moment are Nathan Twaddle and George Bridgewater, (Bridgewater I've met and I went to school with his brother who used to be a complete twat - NZ's a small country,) who came second in their semi. Still, from the string of firsts we got in the quarters to the nerve-wracking performances today I still hope we're in the running for a couple of rowing medals.
Special mention goes to Moss Burmester who came fourth in the 200m Butterfly final, staying ahead of the legendary Michael Phelps in first place for half the race. Damn Phelps is good. Swimming always seems to have one mutant human/amphibian hybrid, Ian Thorpe from Australia was another one of those sorts.

Lulz, all these people on the American baseball team suck. They're all minor leaguers because the majors are actually playing games right now for millions of dollars that they could use to buy golden, diamond-encrusted medals if they so desire.

Btw the US losing in football probably doesn't come as much of a suprise to anyone who realizes it doesn't recieve as much attention as American Football, Basketball, or Baseball in the states.
