De Gale gets gold in Middleweight boxing (16-14 i think), that was an intense match. Both of them were going like it was one of them unlicensed boxing matches.

I couldn't believe what I was watching...even the announcers didn't know what to say.
We got a few medals in Kajak and Canoe. Tomorrow we may win a gold or silver in man water polo against the USA
USA pwned that 4x400m mens final, I think the USA won the womens equivalent too. Now they're at the top of the Athletics table. Back to normal business then.
LOL @ James De Gales interview. This guy speaks like my mates. "innit man, i wanna fank all my m8s, all you lots on da internet, everyone man"
Belgium - 94 athletes (our biggest delegation in 30 years) and only 1 gold and 1 silver medal...
Laughable.

The IOC is prohibited by its charter to recognize global rankings by country and/or to produce any table in that the number of medals awarded to athletes of any country are ordered in any manner. The exception to this rule being the creation of a table for the purpose of information. There is no specified manner in which this is to be done.
Medals are awarded to individual athletes or teams, not nations. It is a severe violation of the spirit of the games to use a medals count to show any nation's superiority. The games are not a battle of champions proving the greatness of any country, but a celebration of humanity and the things we hold in common.
The beliefs of the IOC are closer to the "every medal counts the same" way of thinking. Each athlete's achievements are special in there own right. One of the gold medals that Mr. Phelps has won does not have as much significance as the single bronze Nikpai Rohullah won. Thusly, it is wrong to recognize any athlete's performance as being more valuable. It would seem that many have missed the point. Proclaiming a winner at an event gives more purpose to the competition, but there is not just one winner, there are three. That is the reason there are three medals, not just gold.
It is appalling to see people calling the USA sore-losers or whiners because their media report the medal count differently. I must also ask why would someone in a different country have any regard in this matter? It seems rather irrelevant.
Many people may read the comments of those detracting the reporting practices in question only to conclude one of the following. It could be thought that these comments come from people that are either extremely jealous of the success of the USA and resent that nation and /or have come to hate the USA so much that they will point out any inconsequential bit of minutia, so as to confirm to themselves what they believe to be true.

To be honest, bunch of dudes in Speedos playing grab-ass in a pool isn't my cup of tea.
That game of basketball was awesome. Great showing on both sides. What annoyed me the most was the amount of foul shots in the first and second quarters.
Well if you have such a small country with a total population of New York, you dont really care...TrueMusou wrote:

Anyone else going to be a bit depressed when the olympics finish?

Fuck no. Bring on the Winter Olympics.eskimo_sammyjoe wrote:

These olympics have been lackluster, imo. Only good spots have been the dream team and Phelps (oh, and Shawn Johnson). I can't wait for the Winter Olympics where pretty much all but 2 sports (curling and figure skating) interest me.
Holy fuck Katy Livingston: FIT!

Damn, she is fine
