Ok, I'ma break it down for you since ATG seems like he's on a religious quest of sorts lately...
We're going to take it back to the days of Abraham. Abraham's wife couldn't have kids so he had a child through one of his handmaidens Hagar. His primary wife was unable to have children. Abraham had Ishmael through Hagar as his first son. Then the Lord blessed Abraham and Sarai (his 1º wife) with a son, Isaac. THe Lord blessed Abraham to be the father of many nations..through his posterity all the nations of the world would be blessed with God's priesthood and authority. Ishmael was a naughty boy, as was his mother. Isaac inherited the birthright from Ishmael and inherited all of the blessings of Abraham. Ishmael and Hagar left the family. But because of the blessing given to Abraham that the earth shall be populated with Abraham's seed, Ishmael's posterity grew abundantly. Isaac's family grew abundantly too. Soon Isaac begat Jacob and of course Jacob (Israel) had 10 sons +2 and of course they are those who fled from Egypt with Moses to Canaan and settled and filled the earth. 2 tribes remained in Israel (Judah and Benjamin) while the other 10 tribes were taken captive into Iraq (Babylon), then around 500ish b.c. they were released..but never returned. It was said they fled northward..where with the blessing of Abraham, they flourished and filled the earth.
So we got two sets of people growing and filling the earth..the seed of Abraham, and the Gentiles. Abraham's seed, being blessed by God with the authority to act in his name, eventually have Jesus be born through it, end the old covenant, and start the new covenant (christianity) through Jesus..the population grows..as does Christianity. On the other side, the false prophet Mohammed started the faith that occupies the other half of Abraham's seed..the Ishmaelites.
In Islam, they respect Jesus as a prophet as he is the seed of Abraham. They don't like Jews because they are the fallen people from what I gather..and because they killed the prophet Jesus..something like that. BUt of course, like Christians to Jesus, they adhere to the religion Mohammed started. And as rich in symbolism this whole story is, the parallels and such, it seems as though these two religions are doomed to oppose each other as long as the world stands.
So yeah, there ya go. That's my take on the two warring peoples which are the seed of Abraham. Meanwhile, the gentiles (non-christian/jew/muslim) are also well established in practices so distant from christianity/islam/judaism and mostly isolated from the seed of Abraham, which is to be expected (asian countries).
As a Christian, I'm proud to be an
Infidel!
