It wouldn't happen anyway. They don't give us gas because they like us and think we're their awesome bezzers. It's because they make money of us.FatherTed wrote:

I was looking at the map & it appears that this area in dispute is on the georgia side of the boarder? I have a russian women here at work & she was going to talk to her son in russia to get a better scooop on what the hells going on.
Just a guess from something I heard before, but I think it would be possible for the UN to pass sanctions against Russia, as countries involved in the dispute are not allowed to vote.
Why can't the US take unilateral action now?

Russian planes getting shot down vs. Georgian personnel getting bombed. What sounds nicer?
What could end up worse. Look, I understand where your coming from, Russia deserves some hurt put on them, but military aid runs into very dangerous territory, I for one dont want nukes flying, no matter how slim the chance.nukchebi0 wrote:

Anyways, if anyone was going to give aid, it would have happened already. The American public doesnt give two shits about Georgia, and it seems neither does the European public. Hell, there wasnt even a single story in my newspaper today about Georgia. Not one. Governments will trade words and thats it. If we so wished, we wouldnt even be able to get troops and equipment there before the country is overrun. MAC doesnt have enough planes for that anymore, especially while fighting two other wars.
Nuclear powers don't use nukes unless there is no other option. Shooting down Russian bombers isn't really pushing them into a corner.
Are you kidding me? And really, there is only one other war that is using our air resources.MAC doesnt have enough planes for that anymore, especially while fighting two other wars.
Look at Desert Shield. Its difficult to transport M1's round the world, especially when you have to move a few hundred miles overland. Anyways, you cant hold ground with aircraft, and I doubt our NATO partners would jump to help us out.nukchebi0 wrote:

Just to get everything there and set up would take 2 or so weeks. You need ammo, fuel, troops, replacement equipment, maintenence staff, the equipment, etc. Not to mention not all this stuff can be transported by air. Its not that efficient flying bombs around the world. They're meant to be carried by ships, trains, trucks, etc.
This aint some Bear and the Dragon scenario where airpower is gonna fuck up the Russian Army.

Yeah I guarantee you about half of the USA went batshit insane when they heard that Russia invaded Georgia, either locking themselves into their 1960's nuclear bunker or putting on their airsoft uniform and dusting off their single barrelled shotguns
