That sucks.
I had my CAR stolen while playing BF2 at an internet cafe. Beat that.

Can you tell me how much your car was worth please then I can judge whether you deserved it or not .KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Well actually a phone is just as much of a necessity as a car nowadays. If you think just cos its valuable that make it unnecessary, why did you not buy a car worth $100 instead of $10k?KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Car in SoCal - Obviously a necessity, stolen.
$300 phone - not a necessity, lost.
I'm not saying you deserved it falling out of your pockets at all, just observing what I percieve to be important differences in circumstance.
It was probably worth around $10k at the time. My fault for not having theft insurance on it . Not my fault for having piece of shit tweakers steal my keys from on top of the computer, go on a joyride, rob a house and crash my car in the ensuing police chase.
Disagree on the phone part...a local line is a necessity...a cell phone is just a luxury. I dont own a cell phone by choice and because i dont need it...and i do fine!bennisboy wrote:

Plus its now stolen. Phoned the cab company, they said the driver hadnt reported it, which means that either he's pocketed it, or the next passenger did
Neither a car or a Bike or a mobile phone are a necessity. If you want to go someone you get up and walk or run there.Roger Lesboules wrote:

No, a cell phone is not as much of a necessity as a car. You probably can't make any argument that would change my opinion in that regard.bennisboy wrote:

Run 20 miles? LOL. Take public transit here in SoCal? LOL.jord wrote:

I live in a fairly large town that will probably become a city in the next 5 years and I've managed. You just set off earlier. I used to walk 5 miles to school and 5 back.MrAnderson wrote:
Depends what you do I guess...some people have heavy shit to move alot, so need a car...
If I wasn't in that situation (needing to move heavy instruments/musical equipment), I would use my bike to get around.
And if you live in a city Jord, you can't just walk everywhere!
Mobile phones are a total luxury but think of how much easier they make life...although little kids having them is ridiculous

If I can, I cycle the 16 mile round trip to college. Could I walk that every day? realistically?MrAnderson wrote:

I know people need to move shit, I'm not retarded. Assuming it's not a daily thing or part of your work, how often do you need to move shit? Once a week for your daily shop? You could get a lift.MrAnderson wrote:
Really, think about what you're saying...not everyone has the time to 'set off earlier'.
When all you have to do every day is go to school, life is simple...
And as I said, some people need to MOVE shit that they can't carry.
While I agree many people who drive don't need to use the car, many others do, and public transport is nowhere near a viable alternative atm.
I don't know if we're really different people here but 16 miles? Cycling. Shit that's 5 times easier than walking.MrAnderson wrote:

The only necessity's are Water and food.
So tell me Ken. What do the people with physical disabilities or people that can't afford a car do there? Whither away and die?

You just said you'd cycle the 8 miles...MrAnderson wrote:
That's exactly what I was saying...not everyone needs it, but many do.
Also, I need to move a double bass/bass guitar + amp across town 3-7 days a week, not much fun to do on foot or on a bike
Edit...Oh Jeez...my point was I'm not as lazy as you seem to think. Walking 8 miles would take a couple of hours and a couple of hours back...so your walking alternative doesn't hold up.
I'm done here, have fun in dreamland
