A B C D E is pass I think, anything past an E is 'U' - unclassified.
Technically a D's and E's are scraping-it passes (I think, if it's still the same) and a U is 'Ungraded' which is examiner-speak for 'WHY DID YOU EVEN ENTER THE EXAM ROOM'.

C's and D's are valued, for example a D in maths is easily as valued as something like a B (or even an A) in a subject like media studies.
