My teacher gave us this test, with various questions like

"What does the FBI stand for?"

"Who was Jeffery Dalhmer?"

"What is the DEA?"

"Who was the defense attorney in the OJ Simpson Trial?"

I got about 25 of 60 of them (good I'd say because most of the shit happened before I was born) but one REALLY made me stop and think.

"Name one terrorist organization besides Al Quieda"

And I couldnt. I wanted to say Irish Republican Army or something but I wasnt sure If they were considered terrorists

Some older people that lived through conflicts can probably name a few, but the fact that none of the 35 kids including me could name ONE organization besides Al Quieda was pretty disturbing

Before you grow your e-penis by naming a shit-tonne of terrorists that you very well might have googled, think, can you name one? (Mostly targeted at the yonger people)

I guess its the news messing me up, "Al quieda bombings" "Al Quieda operative found" "Al Quieda weapon stache" "Al Quieda suspects"

Thoughts?

Almost every single country has terrorists to a certain degree, just not all of them are killing thousands of people.

The Peoples Front / Hezbollah in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

I was thinking the Tamil Tigers, but wasn't sure if they were more a rebel group like the Taliban who harbours terror cells.

First of all, its Al Qaeda.

Second, there are many other terrorist organisations : ETA, IRA, Black Hand, Hezbollah.... All off the top of my head.

I guess the US media is very oriented on only what happens is directly connected with america. Pretty sad, if you ask me.

And people seem to be getting confused between different types of terrotist group, there's a lot. Check the 'Terrorism' Wikipedia page. State terrorism is one of the forms... perhaps that's how the Taliban could be considered a terrorist group.

Hamas and Hezbollah immediately came to mind for me. They're pretty prevalent in the media.

The Taliban is a ruling party, the biggest public beef we had with them was that they were harboring terrorists, not that they were terrorists themselves.
