Robert Downey Jr. = Next Joker?

I absolutely loved The Dark Knight, and while I readily admit that you really can't top Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, if the series needs Joker to return, would Robert Downey, Jr. be the man to fill his shoes?

I mention Downey because he's shown already that he can play crazy (and even has some craziness in his real life). He's also shown that he can be funny in both a twisted way (like in Tropic Thunder) and also in a cool way (like in Iron Man).

What do you guys think?

Norton would be interesting, but I don't know if he could pull off the crazy part. I mean, Ed's played crazy in a subtle way, but I've never seen him play crazy in the chaotic way that Heath did.

Or the guy from The Jacket and Pianist, Adrien Brody. He is a very verstail actor. He has done the serious and the psychotic.

I can't see Robert Downey Jr. as the Joker.
Why?
He's already playing Iron Man thats going to be his superhero role.
Seeing him as a villian just doesn't cut it out for me.

I didn't know this until I just looked it up, but apparently having Downey as Joker isn't likely. He said he watched the Dark Knight and didn't "get it." He also said "Fuck DC Comics."

I get the feeling he might change his tune if offered the role though. Ironically, I really can see him enjoying the part if he just opens his mind a little.

I don't think anyone can top Heath, but someone's going to have to take his role. Otherwise, Nolan's going to have a tough time making a third movie.

I don't see a 3rd movie coming I mean where they left it off at is pretty much done. Like in Batman..Forget what's the rest but the old one with jack nicholson I thought it was done there, after he falls off the building and the teeth are laughing haha.

Like the new joker looked really good all "messed up" it gave him the look that he got pony rides from his dad at a young age. But in the end where are you going to go with it really? Batman was now a wanted man, joker was hanging upside down etc. But is this right or am I wrong..Batman sacrificed being wanted after harvey about to kill the people, to keep his "good image" and look like he killed him?
But, I really don't see a new batman anytime soon =/.

Didn't he construct a chaotic operation in Fight Club (Project Mayhem)? .. ok maybe that was more "Tyler".

Did you ever see Primal Fear? Easily one of the greatest movies ever made . He'd be perfect for a sinister role bordering on the edge of insanity.

lol. I mean build. Norton is cut and small framed. Ledger had broader shoulders for getting his way with other cowpoke.

On Topic: It is hard to say I have not seen Downey Jr. in many roles. Although I can say there may be better actors suited to the task than him.
