Found this in my garden. The house was built circa 1853. It's out of metal, it was underground about 1 foot.

1. I don't think it's part of my house. It was in my back yard, about 50 metres from the house.
2. The most pleasing theory is that it's a native relic....(profit?)
3. what was I doing digging in my back yard? Does it count as burying bodies if they're burned beyond recognition?
