Is BF2 played professionally?

I was wondering if Battlefield 2 was played professionally, or by "pro gamers". I've seen a few youtube videos of people who "pro", like this one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcDLsnq_R3M but It's hard to tell if they are actually that skilled, or if they are using hacks. Does legendary pro gamer Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel play/has played BF2 competitively?

There's a shitload of competitive bf2 players, you just missed multiplay's UK i34 LAN event which had a bf2 tournament, and there's another coming up in october.

If you're looking for good EU players you'll find them on ESL playing ladder matches and gathers.

I think some were actually payed with money since contests were like once a month and these guys were playing 24/7. Dunno if its true.

I think a clan as a whole gets money, I'm not really sure. Everyone who was into that pro scene has since left this site. Guess it wasn't bf2-pro friendly enough for those elitists.

Anyway, i heard that the clan gets money as a whole, and the players are given a certain %.

when i played in GROF we were getting paid to play, not much but why not play 2 matches a month for 100euros?

and when there were competitions, if we won the money got split up between the players and like 10 or 20% went to the manager

yeah the majority of clans just can't find bf2 as fun anymore well not the originals, but don't get me wrong there are some originals play for newer clans or clans that weren't that good at the initial start of bf2 so yeah. (I missed the times when the majority of clans played 8v8 it just had more depth then 5v5) I also can't wait for bf3 for this certain reason that the amount of lan tourneys or the amount of leagues that would support it.
