I think it has more with dodging the nearly %50 tax he would pay. Probably using the church as a tax shelter. Even with the numbers quoted in the article, he would still come out ahead.

Although what Vilham said holds some grain of truth. I am not saying rich people should not be allowed to play the lottery, nor am I saying that there aren't any that do, but if you have money, a good way to get more is to invest, not play the lottery.
