I think it has more with dodging the nearly %50 tax he would pay. Probably using the church as a tax shelter. Even with the numbers quoted in the article, he would still come out ahead.

He gave it to a good cause. A lot more productive than beer and hookers.
With that amount I'd want a lift, or an escalator at least.TheAussieReaper wrote:

Thats kinda what a scratch card is...
no r'eee your wrong. Rich people do not play the lottery. Your chance of winning the lottery is about 1 in 14,000,000 why please explain would someone with lots of money go through the effort on such a crappy bet with little chance of reward? Even if they are gambling addicts they wouldn't play the lottery. They would simply go gamble on the stock market or at a casino.r'Eeee wrote:

That doesn't make any scene. He can always buy a ticket. He obviously did.
And, I said probably he's rich. Read above plox.
WTF? Only 20% will go to charity? Where is the rest of the $80,000/year going? Jesus Christ. That is why I hate churches, they would have survived without that money, so they should donate most, if not all of it to charity, not less than 1/4. Fucking assholes.foxxxxxxx wrote:

1) If he's rich, he isn't desperate to win, regardless of the probability of winning. So, whether he's gonna win or not, it's not gonan make a difference.Vilham wrote:

2) I still don't see why they can't play, it's not a sin. The ticket is cheap, they are allowed to do so. And they probably have planned that if they win the lottery, then it's going for the church. Rather than use their own money.
dont try dude. trust me. you will bang your head on the desk going around in circles with him.Spearhead wrote:

Rich people dont play the lottery. (A lot of them probably dont like even going into gas stations)
Although what Vilham said holds some grain of truth. I am not saying rich people should not be allowed to play the lottery, nor am I saying that there aren't any that do, but if you have money, a good way to get more is to invest, not play the lottery. The lottery is a temptation for people who can't afford to invest anything, but have a few bucks they can throw away every week on a chance of hitting it.usmarine wrote:
