Simply, how happy you are wth your bus traffic, trains, etc.

I must say a 2, buses leave really rarely (One every hour or so), and they're never on time; They will be at a place between 7:30 and 7:40, you never know when. They are, however, in good condition, and aren't as dirty and worn-down as many larger cities buses. We don't have trains here.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Trains - excellent. Trains into Penn Station are rarely extremely crowded and are quite relaxing.
Busses - don't take 'em. Though from what I've heard from friends and my cousins, they're not too bad.
Taxis (NYC) - they're everywhere and are being advanced greatly technology-wise. Hell, I forgot when (or if it's already happened), but NYC taxis have keypads in the back of the taxi that allow you to swipe your CC. Pretty cool, imo.

So, for NYC and the Metropolitan/Long Island Area - 5/5.

On behalf of Los Angeles, I give it a 4. My transportation engineering professor said that it takes a Master's Degree in Transportation to figure out a bus schedule, but tbh, when you've figured it all out, you can go anywhere.

However, on behalf of Orange County, I give it a 1. There are hardly any buses that go anywhere and they have the worst schedules. It's impossible to go anywhere via public transportation around here. If only people would give up their cars, that might actually force the OCTA (Transportation Authority) to fix some problems and get more money.

Buuuuuuuuut... one day soon I will be a transportation engineer and hopefully fix some issues around here

rarely on time, loaded with people who don't really have anywhere to go, poorly maintained.

Much of this has to do with poor funding, as cook county is the biggest money pit in the nation, and the traffic in most areas is gridlock, even at night, so i can't expect anything to be on time.

In Bucharest our transport is absolutely "kickass".

We have two systems, the surface and the underground.

Surface is called: RATB which means Autonomous Control of Bucharest Transport. Is uses a sh!t load of Mercedes Citaro Busses (with Conditionning ) Trams and Trolley that are either Mercedes or older russian models.

Underground has a foxy name: METROREX The used to use crappy trains (old soviet era ASTRA trains) in the tubes but now they replaced all the trains with Bombardier Movia trains which damn sexy!

I FORGOT TO ADD! The surface system has no schedules, there a bus, tram or trolley at your nose each minute.

Heres some pictures!

You're from Jugland, right?

It's absolutly horrible.

Crowded, warm and dirty busses, rarely drive where I live.
S-train: Never on time, offen delays, long time between the trains.
Subway: Crowded, not enough seats. Sometimes problems.

Very expensive.

5/5 (The Hague)

Trams leave every 10 minutes (where I live) 1 block away, busses leave every 10 minutes, 2 blocks away... trains go every 30 minutes where ever you wanna go (with crowded routes they come faster, Like The Hague > Amsterdam etc)

and for me (as a college student) it's all FREE.

+ 9/10 they're all on time... our NS (National Trains) scores 99,4% this month.

The public transport system in Oslo is freakin excellent and it takes me about 12 minutes to get into town by tram.
A month pass is fairly cheap.
There's pretty much a tram or an underground that goes anywhere you want.
Buses are nice and modern.
Trains are freakin sweet.
The only bitch is that the last tram up to my house leaves at 12:15 (Can be a real party pooper..I can walk but I also can't be fucked)

The Metro in Rome, especially the Line B (Line A has air conditioning trains with Tvs).
I use the Line B and the trains are all old, covered with graffiti, there is no air conditioning thus every morning when I leave my house I'm fresh and cool, I get to school all sweaty and smelly. Its annoying and horrible, that's why I have to carry my deodorant In my bag. The Buses are even worse, buses pass every 30mins or 20mins min, so trsut me on this, when An Italian says "I will be back in 5 mins" he means he will talk to someone and then talk to someone else, go to the bar and have a coffee and then come back 30mins or 1 hour later.
Italy is probably the laziest and the most non productive country in the Europe.
