military spending is a good thing. our military spending is under 5% of our GDP and it helps our economy as well as secures American interests overseas. The pursuit of those interests allows you and I to enjoy being members of a stable and affluent society.

McCain made a horrible move here. Not one Clinton supporter will cross now. Although by taking a STRICT pro lifer, he may get the religious right vote that hates him.
He had them anyways. If Biden loses his temper on her I see a GOP bounce though.oChaos.Haze wrote:

If it's appropriate, I'd like to see Biden open up on her and just stomp her. She's running for the VP position. If she wants to sit at the grown-up table she better be prepared for someone like Biden.

Palin is a feisty girl, so don't worry about that.Reciprocity wrote:

I'd love to make a list of everyone who knew about Sarah Palin or even heard about her before April 2008
If you are a democrat the Paulin move looks brilliant, but she is a pro lifer and will probably not attract hillary feminists.Kmarion wrote:

If you are a religious right ultra conservative old man then you will be really cheesed off by her selection, after all some of those guys still think that women should not be allowed to vote. McCain might lose those votes.
So picking Palin will give McCain a bump for excitment and hopefully it will cause Obama to take a dump for not picking Hillary.
Asked what he thinks of McCain's vice presidential choice, Obama told Kroft, "She seems to have a compelling life story. Obviously, she's a fine mother and an up-and-coming public servant. My sense is that she subscribes to John McCain's agenda."
"Does the fact that he chose as his vice president someone what has less experience than you take that weapon out of his arsenal?" Kroft asked.
"Well, you know, I think that's a good question to address to Senator McCain," Obama replied. "Of course, the issue of experience is going to be relevant. And if I were running against me, that's something that I would try to make an issue of as well. Particularly if I had been in Washington as long as John McCain had."
