For the past few weeks alot of threads have popped up (a large portion being mine ) dealing with flight lessons, pilot careers, and flying in general. I figure we could just pile all those questions, stories, and threads in here... or this will just die. But I think we have enough people here intersted in flight that it will live for a while.

Ill start just by reposting my little solo story from earlier today here:

Basically my instructor and I did one go around the pattern and as we were taxiing back to the runway he asked me to pull off to the side. He then handed me my log book and student pilot certificate with his endorsements (he was signing them unbeknown to me while we were flying around.) and hopped out. I then proceeded to do 3 takeoffs and landings with no hitches.

i have a commercial multi-engine instrument rating, flight instructor CFII and MEI, advanced ground instructor, airframe and powerplant mechanic, and flight dispatch rating. thats about it really.

Only just started lessons myself. only 3 hours up.

although im not going to actually complete my lisence or anything.... plan on doing around 10 hours finishing just before my flight test for RAAF. (if i do over 15 hours i have to do advanced flying test and i cant be arsed to do that)

Are your eyes still holding you back? (If I remember correctly you said you had to quit b/c of an eye disease?)

Started flight school wednesday. It's pretty good so far, but a bit slow.

The 2nd year people (now seniors) get to fly twice a week which gets them like 60 hours, we get to fly around 4 (for the first year). Combine the 60 hours 2nd year with the 4 hours second year and the 8 hours we need to take/buy on our own during the summer, and I should be pretty good.

usm, if you're there - how many hours are required for a PPL?

i haven't played tekken 3 since my come back shitfaced university days though. Its the only game i ever played on consoles.

I took flying lessons when I was 15 (grandfather is a flight instructor). It was fun but, just did not stick with me.

Good thing I guess I wouldn't be making nearly as much money. Not saying you can't in that field, for me it would have been unlikely.

He still has a of couple old planes; Comanche 260 and a Cessna 150 out in the country on a runway he shares, we go up every once and while.

I have been wanting to learn. I was gonna attend Spartan College of Aeronautics about 3 years ago...But then got cold feet

My local community college has courses for flight training and mechanics, I think I'm gonna check em out this year. Not exactly a prestigious place to learn though...meh.
