Is it really true that learning to fly is easier than learning to drive?

I'm too poor (financially and eyesight) for this, maybe when I'm 30 or something I'll be richer. Then I'll do it. I'll get laser surgery first. I've got it all planned out. Now I just have to fuck up everything from now until I'm 30, to ruin the plan

I go to Central Washington University and am in their 4 year flight tech program out at Midstate Aviation, I have around 70 hours logged and last year I earned my Private pilots license and this year I'm getting my instrument rating followed by commercial, multi engine, and finally Certified flight instructor my junior and senior years. Ellensburg is a great place to fly most of the year but it snows quite a bit in the winter and it can get pretty windy, but that just makes for more experience

Some updates: I should be flying a Cessna 172 next week. Basic takeoff, midflight and landing stuff. I'd assume that my instructor will handle all the panel shit, because I haven't learned much about it yet.

I'm also going to be flying in one these soon.

RV-4. A guy my mom's dating built one with his father. Took 'em 12 years. He does aerobatics and stuff in it. Pretty cool.

Also; what's a good headset to buy? I might need to buy one in the coming months. Flying mag always advertises Zulu headseats and Bose headsets like they're godly. Any suggestions?

Christ, that's expensive...I saw some entry level ones in the Sporty's catalog from this month that were around $250. Not horrible, but you pay for quality.
