Im getting outer bands from Gustavo and im in the keys, it was gusting around 70mph and every road has atleast a inch of water on it cuz theres so much rain. Just got back from bailing my boat out. This thing is gonna be big. Wherever it hits it gonna be a cat5. I feel sorry for whoever is in the bullseye, but if you live at the bottom of a giant bowl (New Orleans) and dont evac for something like this your a dumbass and deserve what you get.
We had a cat5 a few years back up here. Passed to the north of the town by less than 20km or so.

If someone actually CAN'T leave by themselves, they'll be helped out. I'm sure that's what SGT means.
However, those that choose to stay who CAN leave...I don't have much sympathy.

Presumably not. TBH, I'm just amazed this hasn't happened earlier. When you think about now long NO has been around (ok, so not that long, but still a few hundred years) nothing has happened, but now we have two city destroying hurricanes in 3 years.

Agreed. New Orleans, with it's "bowl" location etc.. should've been wiped out a long time ago when it was a simple colonial settlement. Or even before that, it should've just been a "no-go" area in general where you just don't want to start up a settlement.
