Hi all.

I cannot connect to the Manchester United forums www.redcafe.net using either IE or Mozilla at the moment. I have gotten friends to verify, and they can connect to the webpage, but whenever I try it returns an "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" error.

This has been happening since Tuesday morning. I was able to access the site on Monday night.

Any thoughts? Could I have accidentally blocked it somehow or something?

I only ask because I spend quite a bit of time posting on there and would like not to have to do so from a completely different computer.

Thanks, but when I do that it says

"The required operation requires an elevation"...

I'm running Vista, and I'm the only user on this laptop.

Do the same thing, but this time go

Start > type cmd
Right click the result and go Run as Administrator.

Well it accepts the command now and it flushed the DNS, but it still says that it cannot access the page (and I did restart IE).

Makes a me sad

Any other ideas?

Hmm, FF3 respects IE's Security settings now.

Check if IE's security is set to default or if any sites are in Untrusted.

I did a reset to default settings of IE just as a last resort before I posted here, so everything is at default settings (security: Medium High), and there are no restricted websites, or untrustworthy websites.

Alright, well can you see London.

Use cmd, and type
tracert 4.69.137.69

That is the first hop in London for me.

You could also try the last hop in New York: 4.69.134.77

FYI: everything for Australia is Sydney <=> San Jose (until PPC-1 comes in )

Okay, so you can see London fine.
There's only three more hops

12   369 ms   361 ms   360 ms  ae-42.ebr2.London1.Level3.net [4.69.137.69]
13   398 ms   412 ms   326 ms  ae-25-52.car5.London1.Level3.net [4.68.116.51]
14   337 ms   338 ms   338 ms  195.50.116.142
15   338 ms   338 ms   337 ms  www.redcafe.net [193.27.1.42]

Try each IP and see which one you can't get to. Does tracert take another path? Is redcafe resolvable (work) in tracert?

Try resetting your modem?

could be possible someone in his subnet tried a DOS against them and they are blocking his segment.  its an outside chance but still possible.

Tried pinging all those IPs, and they each worked, with pings of about 500 - 700.

arp * -d

from a command prompt.

And in an odd twist literally 5 mintues before I was going to call the Telco it decided to fix itself...

My theory is that one of the lines of the telco I have went down somewhere in America or somewhere meaning that it couldn't access the webpage (if that makes any sense at all) because something similar happened last year.
