Maybe more of a "I hate bush so let's try to influence an election" agenda

I used to like Rather, grew up watching him, but hearing him get preachy about corporate media after being complicit in a media lie...no thanks

It's kind of strange that people want to hear this guy speak as if what he has to say is 'controversial', when over here in Europe it's pretty much common-knowledge...

... And he uses the word "model", and bangs on about the same media-propaganda-bias topic that we have been talking about in D&ST for weeks. By model does he mean the Propaganda Model perhaps? That's been a frequent flyer around here recently, so often in fact that I'm almost tired of reading about it.

I don't think Rather was talking about the Chomsky/Herman Propaganda Model as much as he was just talking about the general reality that corporations' first goal is profit, and that since the media outlets are now owned by corporations, their focus is now maximizing profit. The Propaganda Model has a more nefarious undertone.

But, as to the OP...yes, Rather nailed it. Only took him 20-odd years to figure out what most of us not in journalism have known all along.
