I know, I know! I've searched through this forum on the many, many connection problems. However, I assure you mine is unique in it's own way. So I am asking for any help or advice I can get. Here is the story so far...
This is a problem I've been having ever since I upgraded somethings (CPU, mobo, video card) a few weeks ago, though I wonder if that is coincidence. Before these new parts I've been running, I never had these issues with BF2 in the past five months. It started to happen about a week and a half ago, although I've made no changes to my PC since then besides defragging.
Problem: I'd say 8 times out of 10, this happens to me. A round ends, but before I can select a kit, or sometimes a few seconds after I've spawned... it'll briefly freeze and then I get "Your connection to the server has been lost". ASAP, I go into my favorites and rejoin. No problem once I get back in the server. I don't have this issue when all rounds have been completed and the map changes, just between rounds. A real inconveinance for a minute or so, as when I play with friends, sometimes I end up on the other team and can't rejoin. Just because I rejoin, does not mean the problem goes away - usually it can happen after THAT round is over as well.
Specs:
- Running three computers on a Linksys BEFSR41 Router. Firmware is old (as I've heard the update gives problems, and it has, in fact)
- PB is updated
- My in-game settings are selected to Cable, because I am running off of a 1.5mpbs dl cable connection (Cox).
- My PC is squeaky clean. No spyware, adware, viruses, trojans. I also do not have connection problems in any other game.
- Windows Firewall is off and router is set up so that it's own firewall does not interfere.
- My specs:
EVGA NF4 SLI (Firewall is closed completely when gaming)
AMD 3500+ (Winchester)
x2 512MB OCZ ELPE
XFX XXX 6800GS
Audigy 4
Running with x2AA @ 12x10, all high except med. terrain, dynamic lighting, lighting, and shadows. Sound is set to high w/EAX.
Other than the GS overclocked out of the box, nothing is OC'ed and has not yet been OC'ed. Any ideas?
