I recently bought a PS3 and I've barely played it. The main reason being, we don't have any HDTVs too experience it to it's full potential.

Will this adapter plug directly into my PS3 and allow me to hook it up to my PC monitor?

Both of them will work. The difference is you need a DVI-DVI cable for the first one.

The second one is just a cable, so it would work too.

The first one has a DVI female end so the monitor should be able to plug directly into it shouldn't it?

I ain't talking about the cable here, at the back of the monitor there must be DVI female. The second part of my post is about the cable.
