As long as the heads-of-state in our country are in bed with corporate capital and military-industrial interests there will be no "good" presidents.  The people (me and you) need to force our elected officials to be accountable to US, not to monied interests.

They all suck, and the guardians of the system (police state, media, etc) relish in the fact that people digest, swallow, then regurgitate the bullshit they feed to the public.

But please, let's keep talking about how much Clinton and/or Reagan sucked instead of holding the factions responsible for most government policy accountable

not killing or letting a country hand bin laden over to us.  not responding to ANY terrorist attack, other than cruise missiles which landed on civilian targets.  running away from somalia thus emboldening terrorists.  dicking around with saddam for years.  drawing down the military and not improving equipment.  but yes, thank god the books "looked" good for a bit.

Yep, its much better now when there are even more terrorists, bombs still land on civilian targets, the US practically runs away from the real threat (Taliban) to attack a pussy dictator which could have done nothing to harm the US, ordering the F-35's which won't be in full service until quite few years, and the books look like shit.

The future is bright, shit bright.

The Taleban were carefully herded into Pakistan.

Since when were there any Taleban in Iraq? Or are you thinking of AQ flocking to Iraq?

GWB chose to sit back and do nothing, even when told OBL was determined to attack within the US.
BJ Bill did actually try a few things.

And while the F35 may look cool and make Lockhead Martin very rich I'm not sure how its going to stop RPGs hitting Humvees.

no not really.  they have sort of molded into one since a lot of them were on the run together along the afghan-paki border.  kind of hard to know who is what anymore since they are all scattered and broken up into a lot of separate groups.  you can maybe look at it like dems and repubs in a way.

but thank you for contributing.

They operate as terrorist cells, but AQ and the Taliban are completely separate. As is Jamar Islamir...

not so much.  i would like to know where you get your info, but i get mine from janes.com.  here is a little bit from an article.

"So, you see there is this extraordinary interconnectivity there between Pakistani religious clerics, the Taliban — who are both Afghan and Pakistani — and the al-Qaida fighters who are a mix of everything — Afghan, Arab, Uzbek, Tajik, you name it."

and i dont care what a bbc article says, so dont bother posting it.

How about this then?

http://www.defenselink.mil/news/newsart … x?id=43960

President Bush said the United States would regard the Geneva Conventions as applying to Taliban detainees under U.S. control -- but not Al Qaeda detainees.
Apparently you can ignore the Geneva Conventions for one group but not the other. Some pretty big distinction you would think?

A BBC article isn't good enough, and I accept that. I present an article from http://www.defenselink.mil but you rubbish it because... it was found on the internet?

Yeah I guess the U.S Department of Defense Official Website is a sketchy source at best.

Of course they fight together, they have a common enemy. If anything the war on terror has made their ties stronger, but they have certainly not molded into one group or into indistinguishable splinter cells.

Doesn't say they have moulded into one, just they are connected, they are still separate groups.
Next time try posting something which supports your argument.

Oh really? Ok, lets see here. Clinton did a whole lot to get Bin Laden after the attack of the USS Cole. Clinton really showed his leadership in the Battle of Mogadishu oh, and lets not forget that liitle act he pased with Senator Torricelli that prohibited counter intelligence agents from putting anyone with a criminal background on their payroll. No sir, that didn't dry up field intelligence at all and lead to a series of attacks on Sept 11.  Ok, see my point? GWB is as usefull as a bowling ball in a hockey game but lets not dismiss Clinton's fuck ups. At least Bush has the balls to stand up despite what people think of him (or maybe he is just that stupid) and do what he thinks is right. Clinton was a fucking coward who swept shit under the carpet to preserve his image and it cost us big later on.

I don't understand why people think Clinton's decision to pull out of Somalia was a bad one. Fucking pointless venture in a deadbeat irrelevant country.

Seems like you have it all figured out, you can back this up i reckon ?

How can you actually claim what lead and what didn't lead to 911 and the two wars after that, when you first are on the road of speculations you can just as easily follow that road back to Bush Sr. and maybe even further than that ...

funny that you think if 9/11 had happened in lets say 1993 during the first attack, that you think the economy would not have taken a huge hit.  but, seems you people forget that shit.  not surprised.

bush sr. did start it by helping kuwait and having bases in saudi.  but clinton proved to terrorists they we wont respond.  well, because we didnt.  you dont need a think tank to figure that out.  try and live outside the google world for a bit.

Oh I am not denying that. Not at all, however, my response was not a claim to have anything figured out. It was in response to Mr X placing the load on GWB and alleviating Clinton of any wrong. I may have some insight or maybe not. I did serve in the Marines under Clinton and was forward deployed for most of my 5 years in. I served as a grunt and then went through counter intel school and became a field interrogator so I have a little experience in the military intelligence community during Clintons administration. Not a whole lot but enough to see first hand how his policies effected those in theatre and I can tell you Clinton should not sleep well at night, but I am sure he does.
