In a slight update to my previous situation, looks like I'm going to have to get a new power supply.

Considering I just built this thing a year ago, having to do this again is god damn hassle. So I'm turning to you guys so I can get this done quick and clean.

Specs:
A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Memory

APEVIA ATX-CW500WP4 500W ATX Power Supply

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

nVidia 7600GS Video Card

Considering how well my last choice was, I'm starting from scratch on this one.

I'm on a bit of a limited budget, so under $100 is preferable.

You won't need a lot of power for that computer, but go with a 600W OCZ StealthXStream for future proofing.

I was just looking at that

But one review said the CPU power cables were a bit short for bottom-mounting cases (just like my Antec 900). Should I be worried?

look at the sig - i have both the 900 and the StealthXStream 600W.  no problems here.

And it will power your next rig too whenever you decide to upgrage.

Edit: As everyone else has said too

_Really_ no point tbh. That 600W StealthXtream for less than half the price is a better choice.

oh wow, that StealthXtream is cheaper than I thought. Yeah, go for that.

Imma go with the Enermax though, due to Silence and modularability.

Can't be counted like that.

But 4*18 is better than 3*22 if one wants to use 2 video cards in the future (2 PCI-E connectors per card = theoretical 36A which is plenty for anything)

how's it counted?  i always thought it was just the total.

Too complicated. Even I don't know properly. Theoretically it goes max 1 rail per connector. Meaning max 2 rails per GPU if it has 2 power connectors. That isn't the full truth though, and 8-pin/6-pin connectors differ too.

The point is you cannot combine the rated amps and think it would imply the amperage it can deliver to devices. Real amperage is lower.

I would also look into the corsair units.  A bit more pricey but worth it.  At your budget your probably looking at the 520HX if you want modular or the 650 maybe the 750 tx depending on how flexible the budget is.  Any of those will be more than enough for future upgrades, even the 450 would give you playing room.

The only statement that comes to mind when I saw the OP's pic was "YOU FUCKIN LAGGIN PIECE OF SHIT" /fps doug

Anyways, I love my OCZ. In the armor, I'd say modularity is worth it. This is coming from a dude who spend $190 on his psu though

Quick question for the stealth users, does it have the l33t blue led like the mod and game units?

to find out how much it really puts out on the 12v total check what it shows on the PSU lable.  The max the OCZ can put out is about 48 amps on the  12v  rails (580 watts / 12v + total amps and that's not taking into account the 3.3v and 5v also are added into the 580watt maximum)  Its not a matter of adding what the max for each 12v rail is to find the total.  all the specs for each rail means is the max that rail can out put, but they can't all output the maximum at the same time.

<3 my single-rail HX520.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
