Generally, yes, but the OCZ Stealth is a good PSU, and for that price you can't go wrong with it.haffeysucks wrote:

I was making fun of his choice.

I love my Thermaltake PSU. Here is what I have. It's 700W of clean/consistent power, and modular to boot. And if you act now, you can get it for $95 after MIR.

Really, since you made a mistake, I won't mention that any further.
Try quietness, efficiency and reliability.
Remember, higher efficiency makes the PSU cheaper in the long run.

Quietness - does StealthXStream mean anything to you?nukchebi0 wrote:

Efficiency - the Seasonic is 5% more efficient, I'll give it that
Reliability - it's impossible to tell for sure, but I'll trust OCZ over SeaSonic in terms of reliability.
oh and sorry, i meant to quote you

Names don't mean the product is quiet.

Okay.

Everyone I've talked to in the tech world says that Seasonics are the one of the best power supplies in terms of build quality and reliability (Power PC and Cooling, I think tied). The fact they make the PSUs for Corsair and Antec's top-series should indicate something.

Quietness: There is no distiguishable difference in the quietness of these two, really.nukchebi0 wrote:

Efficiency: One has certificate, one does not. End user will not notice the difference in less than 5 years of use.
Reliability: This one is a valid point, Seasonics are very good. OCZ's (Made by FSP group or BeQuiet) are good, but in some cases have problems, I would trust in one, but you can pretty much read newegg reviews, these are not perfect.
I call for OCZ in this case, still.

Werd. Seasonic making fucking quality PSU's. I'd go for quality any day over a few extra watts from someone like OCZ. Hence why I got a 520w Corsair rather than a 600w OCZ.nukchebi0 wrote:

This is not the best use of 90 dollars for a power supply.
EDIT: OCZ make pretty dubious quality PSU's from what I here. Sure they're cheap and will do fine, but they certainly aren't up there with the best PSU manufacturers.
EDIT2: And to those of you that claim you need a high wattage PSU; see this.

So after a long night of benching, some 4GHz Pi 1M runs, tons of 3d, and more.. the PSU is alive and fine. Over the course of the night I drew about 475w peak from the outlet, with the 12v rail never dipping below 12.00v.
The most power draw I saw was Deep Freeze in 3D06, which was about 471w.
Conclusion: You can overclock the balls off your QX6700 & 8800GTX and maintain a stable, powerful computer with a good quality 500w PSU.
Two right off the top of my head would be..
Enermax Liberty 500w
Corsair HX520w
And pictures.. (click thumbs to enlarge).

If HX520 and Stealth 600W Would be the same price, I'd definitely go for HX520. Definitely.ghettoperson wrote:

...no way. I thought I saw a 420W Seasonic in that link before.DeathUnlimited wrote:

420w I'd be inclined to agree. 550w however is more than enough to run any system with a single GPU.
420 is too. HX520 will run any dual-gpu system too.ghettoperson wrote:

Yeah probably. I think something like dual 4780's might be pushing a 520w PSU, but I don't know for certain. A good quality 420w should do it, but I think that's cutting it a bit close on most modern systems. That said on the system posted in the OP a decent 420w PSU would be more than sufficient.DeathUnlimited wrote:
