So the press is after Sarah Palin for her not having enough experience to be prez in something should happen to Mr McCain? Imagine that!!!

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Bill Clinton also "just" a governor? Wasn't Ronald Regan "just" a governor? What am I missing here? That suddenly makes her "not" qualified to be commander in chief, again, only if something should happen to Senator McCain?

Hell, both parties have pissed me off enough that I'm voting 3rd party in '08.

Thoughts?

Obama's been in the senate for like 3 years. You don't have to believe all the propaganda. The 100 days things was at the point he started his exploratory committee see if he should run.

Wouldn't the fair comparison be to go back and look at all their (every presidents) running mates?

Yes they were. I guess my vent may be directed towards the damn biased media

Oh well, I'm pissing on both parties in '08. I want my country back.

Experience is overrated.  I think the office is so unique that there is no benchmark or standard.

I'm gunna say that the #1 requirement for a person to be president, is the desire to be president.  When I'm 35, I'll be eligible to be president.  I have no desire now, and I doubt I'll have the desire then, to be the President.  It takes a special person, republican or democrat, to want to run for that office.  They're willingly giving up their own lives to operatives, strategists, the media, the public, and that's just for the primary.  Obama, Biden and McCain all have the desire to be president.  they all made the choice, however many months ago, to put themselves under the microscope for vivisection.  They've all been torn apart and put back together many times and they accept and embrace it, because that's the butcher's bill.

Mrs. Palin was quietly governing her little state up until three weeks ago.  She had no desire to be the president, she had not been put under the microscope and ripped apart.  She obviously didn't want that, or she would have tossed her hat into the ring a year ago.  She is a political opportunist who couldn't pass up a shot at the big time.  Except she doesn't want to run the guantlet, she wants the job without all the unpleasantness that comes with seeking the job.  So, now the media, according to McCain, is against him and his new best friend, simply because they're having to do years worth of research  and reporting in the span of weeks.

The primary job of the Vice President is to be in the backround. Ready at any moment to enable the seemless transition of power.  Mrs. Palin is not qualified to be president because up until 4 weeks ago, she didn't want to be President.

I thought the Vice President's job basically ended on polling day, so experience does matter too much in that regard.

The old experience debate.
If you're an ignorant  fuckwit who makes dumb mistakes its doesn't matter how much experience you have, you're still an ignorant fuckwit who makes dumb mistakes.

Unfortunately ignorant fuckwits never seem to get this, they think their experience still counts for something and the fact they make mistake after mistake is unimportant.

I think experience really can be a bad thing, if experience is the same thing as having been senator or governor for some years. If you've already been in high politics for a while, chances are that you call a lot of lobbyists you friends, because otherwise you wouldn't be in high politics. It's only logical that these "friends" won't be forgotten after the election, because becoming president is even more expensive than becoming senator.

So I think having no experience can be a good thing, but only if your character is strong enough to resist the influences of the "experienced".
When experience in a special matter is needed, there is a reason why there are different departments with (hopefully) persons, who know what they do.

When you then exclude this experience, what counts is the personal opinions of the candidates, their real political program.

Start voting for programs, not for faces.

I don't get why everyone is so worried.

Pretty realistic map, and that's not with VA being a blue state, which it just might become.
