So I was checking out my mates myspace profile the other day, he's doing a multimedia course. I found a picture that I think is really cool. If you've got anything like it, share it, because i'd like to see it. P.S. I think this is rotoscoping, but I could be wrong. I think what he did was Photoshop a real picture and make it look like this. If anyone can shed light on this technique for blunt curiousity...

I thought it was called retroscoping. Another example of it is the film "A scanner darkly" which is conpletely retroscoped.

Rotoscoping is for video when you edit it frame by frame. Your friend probably just added some Photoshop filters and added the graffiti.

I hate to piss on your fireworks, but it's not very good. He's just take a photo and added a Photoshop filter.

This on the other hand is very impressive. They're all photos, with extensive Photoshop work to make them look fucking awesome.

The "poster edges" filter in Photoshop does that effect.

You might sway the minds of the innocent Americans though.

Regardless of whether he added one effect or several really cool ones, something about this photo just rings cool in my head.

The only thing that photo rings in my head is .GIF.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

GIMP has a cartoonify function that does that, levels out color balances, and widens borders to a thick black line...
