Calm down everyone, it's being used for civil law; there have been Jewish courts doing the same thing in the UK for years. The court only has power to judge over a case if BOTH parties involved agree to recognise the court's authority.

Finally, someone addressing the OP. The name calling was getting ridiculous and not a good counterpoint.  Thanks Braddock for something useful.

I'm admittedly ignorant on the topic so help me out.  Are you saying that in the UK, there have been other independent courts created to handle civil law in certain cases where both parties are amenable to it?

I guess maybe that wouldn't be much different than Native American Tribunals which handle much of the law on reservations...hell, they even have their own law enforcement.
