I start college on the 29th doing a music production course using logic pro, and for GCSE used Cubase. I know both of these are MIDI programs, but I don't have a MIDI keyboard (or anything MIDI for that matter), so I was just wondering if there were any free programs that just had samples of stuff and that don't use MIDI controllers. I know they will probably be lame, but I just want to get creative again, and get back into making my own music before college starts

Thanks

Try Audacity. Also Creative media source has a midi player/composer i think.

Audacity is a pretty good program. It can do a lot for being a free program. Also lots of wikis for it.

Your college course will probably use Cubase, Ableton Live and other such VST's / DSP's.

You'd do yourself well to hook up some student-discount packages, or the Internet alternative .

My college removed all PC's from the premises lololol, because they get a better student deal with Apple. They also decided it would be better to specialize in Logic rather than do both Logic and Cubase. Once I get settled I will probably buy and Apple laptop and Logic because of the discount. But only when I have the money
