First - yes I did search on "Etiquette" and "new player guide" and found tons of great info on things like "How to be a good Special ops Player" and such.  But the one thing I did not find was soemthing like an Etiquette guide.

OK - an Etiquette guide for a first person battlefield simulation?  Being a newly addicted player I have some questions like:

- I see my teammate in a tank battle and I have an AT kit - is it proper to help out?  Would I be stealing points?  You can extend that to any kind of weapon.

- How important is it to say "Thanks." when you are picked up, revivied, etc.?  I'm speed challenged and sometimes have to decide between polite & living.

- You're in a HumVee as the gunner and it becomes pretty obvious that the driver has never been behind the wheel before.  Should you a) Ask to take over b) Jump & run or c) Hang on for the ride?

See where I'm going?  So if it's out there, please drop a marker on it for me.  If it's not, should we start one?

I think the first thing you should learn is how to use the q func chat. and when punishing is appropriate(rarely). other than that, common sense, if you get revived usually your gy says thanks automatically I think.... whatever. thank for rides, they're rare. apologize if you TK that way there's less of a chance you get punished. warn before arty if you're commanding... try to warn people before you shoot at a tank with a specops running away from it if you can make it happen. chances are if the tank you're shooting at explodes it will kill them too.  just common sense stuff I think. I'm 16 by the way. just so you know I am a kid and I do know how to be polite.

help out teammates whenever, if there is a sniper raping the base, spawn sniper and take him out, use AA and AT fixtures whenever possible, except when near lots of friendlies

My opinions...

AT Kit along side a tank...It's a team game.  Play as a team.  Points Shmoints.  Odds are it will all even out.  You'll get credit for kills you shouldn't and you'll miss out on credit/assists when you should.

Thanks...If I can I usually thank a pick up/revive/ammo.  More importantly learn to spot enemy targets.  That
helps everyone out.

Bad Driver...Jump and run if it's safe.

You'll soon realize that most people don't care anyway or they'll bitch and moan.

Always help your fellow tank driver take out another tank. Even if you get the kill, he'll get damage assist points AND will be able to continue killing, as opposed to him having the chance of blowing up and getting nothing.

There's really no need to thank anyone for reviving/healing/supplying you, since the points they get for it is reward enough, not to mention probably why they're even bothering. However, if you ask for ammo/health and someone goes out of their way to find and assist you, a thank you never hurts.

I bail on bad drivers. Never met one yet that willingly handed over the controls because I thought they sucked at it.

Hey, the objective is to win, not to worry about 2 points for a kill. If you see a battle and can help, help. The person will get a kill damage assist so they wont lose out on all their points anyways.

Meh, I know some people get annoied when you dont say thanks or sorry right away after something happens, but I will say thanks/sorry when I have the time, if I'm in a firefight they will have to wait till I'm out of danger, if somebody feels the need to TK punnish because you dont say sorry fast enough they need to think about what they are doing more than your ability to quickly say something.

Jump and run, they will just get you killed. Also, if you see somebody in a gunners seat of a car/boat, do NOT jump in the drivers seat and start driving. Little is more annoing than having somebody hop in and drive off with your gun platform (esp when they do it while your in the process of shooting something)

Along the same lines as that, if you see a tank far away from its spawn point empty with an engi standing next to it repairing it, dont jump in and run away with the tank. If you want a tank you will have a chance to grab one when it respawns, dont take the tank from the engi keeping it in good health and on the battlefield longer.

Lets see, other things... As a medic its nice to kill the enemy before you revive somebody, if you think they can run away from the danger feel free to give it a try, but dont revive somebody several times in a row when they just drop dead right away again. Fun for the enemy gunner, not so fun for the person being revived.

Also think before you TK punnish. Punnishing somebody doesnt cost them any more points, only places them 1 point closer to a kick from the server, so only punnish if you think what they did deserves a kick. (This is something I've only recently learned myself, so its good to know)

Last thing I can really think of off the top of my head is have ethics when you play and know the difference between tactics and cheap exploitation of the game. Granted this is an iffy subject, but bunny hopping, GL's at your feet etc do ruin the fun of the game for others, and things like the dolphin dive are just plain wrong. Hope that helps some.
