looks good. I would have gone with a different GPU (HD4850 or 4870 - assuming this is for gaming and not CUDA), more memory and vista. The monitor is very small too. The PSU is way bigger than you need

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

You can get an ATI 4850 for the same price as that 8800.

Here's 4 gigs of RAM for cheaper

Thanks, but I just upgraded from a crap 4 year old machine to this, which is good enough for me.  I won't be upgrading for a while, or at least until BF3 comes out.  I'll keep your suggestions in mind though.  (=  The only game I really play is BF2, and I can run it at max settings at a good FPS.  (Haven't checked)

Video card: For that price you could have gotten a HD4850 which is over 25% faster.
Monitor: Quite small, small resolution, pretty low contrast ratio. Judging from numbers not really the best monitor I have seen.
Keyboard: wtf?
All else looks fine.

You "got" it. Like got for free or bought?

Bought it.  I bought the CPU, Motherboard, Graphics Card, RAM, Power Supply, Sound Card, and Case.  Everything else are parts from the computer I used previously.  In total, it cost around $780, it went down to $730 after the rebates.

Looks like a great setup... you should peg BF2 at a 100fps easily...

Wouldn't it have been better to ask us before....

Meh, generally reasonable looking machine. Not the best choice of video card, hard drive or memory, PSU is complete overkill (but very nice) and that monitor is absolutely attrocious.

I got help from the Tech Support Forum.  http://www.techsupportforum.com/

And I was going to ask you guys first, but I was still banned, so I couldn't.

I already said, I didn't buy the monitor, I already had it.  And I don't think of it as small.  It's the biggest monitor in my house lol.  1280x1024 is good enough for me.

I'll ask you guys the next time I'm upgrading.  (For BF3)

Hey guys, if I wanted to make my computer better overall (including mice, monitor, everything), what should I buy or spend money on next?  Then I'll buy that once I make enough money.

You might want to add another 2 GB of RAM, or return that monitor (please) and buy a different one.

edit: and you can snag a 4850, although the G92 88GTS is a good card.  it's painful to me because for the same price you could have gotten more performance.

Any good reccomendations in specific?  Hopefully on Newegg?  I'll try to raise some money, post back when I get it, and then ask if prices have dropped and if there's anything better I can buy.

Just got a new monitor for Christmas.

It's an Acer X223W LCD Monitor.

That's a cheap and decent monitor, definitely a step-up for you

Now you need to get widescreenfixer to get bf2 work on it.

IMO it's only bad if you don't like it.  I had an older 17" Acer LCD that was far from an awesome monitor but I never had any complaints about it.  Same deal for me with the TN panel haters,  they look fine to me and cost less.
