Yeah that was fun to watch. Both candidates made strong points IMO.

They stood toe to toe.

I was expecting more than "you don't get it" from McCain.

The debate was better than I thought it would be. I was predicting a sleeper.

McCain: duplicitous and disrespectful.
Obama: poised and overly fair.

McCain's the WINNER! At least his campaign Machine has already declared him so. I are WINNAR! So they've already released an ad. Well, how convenient to declare yourself the winner.

I thought it pandering BS - that foreign policy questions were filled with political rhetoric that plays into the McCain campaign. And they both shied away from the serious technical questions regarding the economy, and yet they were both asked.

Here it is: I are WINNAR!

It was from my Blackberry sitting on the couch, sometimes it fails.

A virtual draw for the most part. The only exception I think was the first exchange. McCain appeared nervous and uncertain. I expected the same reaction from Obama on the issues of foreign policy, but that wasn't the case. He spoke specifics and with a sense of determination. I think those "no substance" remarks can safely be put to rest now.

Again it was close. But if I had to pick a victor it would be Obama.

No, so I don't have to look at stupid audience meters and CNN/Fox splashing my screen with irrelevant crap. I actually turned to NBC because it was in highdef. They just had their website at the bottom of the screen. That I can handle.

I was watching it on CNN HD. I agree, the audience meter at the bottom and the analyst scoreboards to the right and left were annoying as hell.

Next time, NBC...

We had coverage that didn't have any splash logo's at all, which was good.

I gotta say I was happy to hear McCain was so critical of torture of prisons and Guantanamo, but he certainly seems like eerily like his hero Ronald Reagan. He did well for only a 10 hour prep for a debate he called into at the last minute.

Obama came off well, however his inexperience was something McCain was able to exploit. Obama made sure (and was right to) keep referring to Bush and McCain together and in as many responses as he could. And for a debate that was meant to focus on foreign policy though I think Obama came off far better overall, and in a wider range of issues.

I didn't like McCains stance on Russia or the Middle East at all.

How is Obama's position on Russia different from McCain's?

Sen. McCain seemed agitated for most of the debate.  His response of "you just don't get it" multiple times made him seem condescending and easily frustrated.  And I never heard him answer the question regarding the lessons of Iraq.  Obama spoke about the mistake of wreckless and unnecesary wars.  McCain spoke about our "victory" in Iraq and about his  disagreements with Bush.

The way in which they wish to pressure Russia. McCain thinks that a global democratic alliance (whatever the hell that means) is a good step to pressure the ME and Russia.

Obama would rather have emerging nations fast tracked into NATO and the UN with help to their economy.

The McCain alliance was in reference to Iran.

They were virtually identical with their response to Russia. Albeit McCain was trying to spin Obama's words.

I thought it was a small win for McCain, not the debate... but that he was well rehearsed in his rhetoric and came off as not-really-senile.

All the talking heads are complaining that the candidates didn't start crying and tearing their clothing when the economy was discussed.

@topal: I was thinking that as well. Those saying that the old man would be too tired to debate properly were way off the mark. He must have doubled up on his metamucil.

This audience reaction meter.. where the hell are they putting it?!  Is it like a turn-your-head-and-cough insertable deal -  to get such instantaneous reaction times or what?

It would be funny if they had another room - where they hooked up sensors that measured their sexual arousal level.

The ID doesn't lie - like the SUPEREGO does.
