This is the answer from EA support.

Did you select a country while creating the account? The default is United States.

Once you created an account and all the info that goes in it, it cannot be changed and it cannot be deleted either. You can only try to create a new account but that means you will have to start anew. You will lose your stats, rank, awards and weapons unlocked. I'm sorry.

I agree, I am a programmer and I can't understand how a simple change of country could not be done.

Although they could argue, if your too retarded to pick the correct country, you deserve to be stuck with it

Yeah didnt they take into account defectors. Crazed Russian scientiests that defect to Iran, North Korea or China and want to take there stats along with there valuable research on flying monkeys, its so crap.

Maybe its just EA's contribution to stopping defections.........

Have to go now my dog just accused me of being paranoid! Who does he think he is..........

I don't remember if I chose the correct country.
What I think is, If I chose the wrong country was thinking of what country would you want to play as default ?
Thinking in change it later If I want it.
But, no warning ?
Anything about  "If you choose the wrong country you will not able to change it never ?"

If you're a programmer then you should understand that some databases rely on core pieces of information to keep things in order. They may be using the country codes to designate certain aspects of the database; they may even assume that people are connecting from the countries they select and thus do their best to optimize the database to suit connections from other nations. The country codes may be pieces of the database that can't be changed without altering every parameter of the account.

I am not a that level of programming.
But, I am sure the change can be done. Maybe it is not easy, but not impossible.
And if the choose of country is to optimize the database to suit connections, then, there should be a message about the importance of selecting the right country.

I'm sure they don't want to change 30,000 accounts too . . . . that would be a huge waste of time.

I agree that if the country selection has any bearing on connection optimization that it would very nice of them to mention that but again, it may not be very easy to change it. Just about anything can be changed but if it requires them shutting down the account servers for hours or even days so they can revamp the entire db just so we can change the little flag I highly doubt it'd be worth it.

I asked a question in the EA Customer Support, I think I might be getting somewhere. Looks like if I just give them all my account information they'll change it for me. I suggest everyone else to just ask them the same thing by logging into/creating your EA account and asking a question on their support site. By registration code I believe they mean cdkey and I'm not sure on the credit card because you don't exactly use a credit card to pay for the account let alone the game... well  I'll try responding with all my info and see what happens.

My question:
"Is there any way I could get my country changed in my profile? It appears I wasn't paying attention when I created my account and it was set to the default (United States) when infact I'd like it to be Canada. Thanks"

Ea Response:

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

In order to assist you with this issue, we need the following information:

- The Registration Code used to create the account:
- The E-mail address listed on the account:
- Last 8 digits of the credit card used to pay for the account:
- Date of Birth listed on the account:
- Zip Code:

With this information we will be able to assist you further.

Thank you
