In Christianity at least. I mean, isn't the idea that as long as you repent for your sins, you're good? I know suicide is a sin... but if you commit suicide, you kinda can't repent.

Any religious experts?

It would all depend on what sect of Christianity your talking about, more conservative branches have a load of unforgivable sins, more liberal branches don't think suicide is an unforgivable sin, and of course some sects of Christians believe in purgatory, so like I said, its really going to very.

That is one weird religion where the only thing that can't be forgiven is that you kill yourself
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

No there are more sins that can't be forgiven. Rape is one for instance.

I've personally always thought of suicide as a coward's way out.

Not really, its the means you used to suicide that decide whether you went as a coward or not.

But it's completely disregarding everyone who knows you, mentally "taking an easier way out" or the more dramatic "there's nothing to live for"
What's noble or brave about abandoning your family and/or friends for your own wants?

Just my opinion, and I've argued a lot about it with my mother, her believing the opposite.

I'll take a crack at this, I guess.

Suicide is a sin because they threw away the gift of God's love in that most selfish of actions. There's some more depth to it in The Inferno that explains it better.

This may help. Read the summary of Canto XIII and the analysis for it.

There is no such thing as an unforgivable sin, although one has to wonder how suicide would be possibly forgiven were the act successful, but I doubt anyone in those more devout times would be worried about going to Heaven whilst killing themselves. Still, you have the venial sins that certainly aren't good for one's chances of getting into Heaven, but is still possible. Then, there are the mortal sins that, unless absolved, condemns the soul to Hell after death.

What about if one suicides, but is then resuscitated (See: Constantine).

Only way for him to be forgiven was to kill all sorts of shit and save Hell from being brought on earth.

Good-fucking-luck to anyone who attempts that

Yeah in that case I'd just join the four horsemen. All the metal songs I've heard on the subject of the apocalypse make fighting with the dark side sound a lot more fun than being good.

I do believe Jesus made several comments on this, and I don't recall him ever saying anything about suicide being unforgivable.

I just think that it's stupid than the worst place to be sent, (the City of Dis,) is reserved for those who didn't believe in God. Rapists and murderers get a better deal than that! That's horse shit!

On the subject though, I thinnk the problem is that you have to repent in life or in Purgatory. I guess you can't say "forgive me for what I'm about to do" because if you really repented then you wouldn't have done it in the first place right? The whole Purgatory repenting is a bit tough too since you don't get to go there if you're a suicide case.

I think that all sins are meant to be forgivable, I think it's just significantly harder if you're a suicide case.
