Ahh......reading that post makes me want to get a car.

That's it, starting from....next week, I'm going to be looking for something. Petrol price is slowly coming down, and the cold is setting in again, time to break out the automatons

And maintaining your car is a great way to waste time when you have nothing to do, whilst doing something productive

Instead of posting on bf2s and getting flamed by noobs

Also lol at #10. I was in my mates car the other day, almost had an accident as (mainly him) was checking out this girl abit too much

"The only thing inside that transmission holding your car steady is a little pin called a parking pawl. By using the parking brake, you lock up the non-drive wheels as well as the drive wheels and take the stress off of the transmission. It’ll add years of life to your cars transmission. Just remember to disengage it before you start driving again."

lol what, he just finished out saying the only thing holding the car when the trans is parked is  the parking pawl, then he says using the parking break eliminates wear in the transmission.

Anyone know a person who wore out the parking pawl before they wore out the trans? Unless you do something stupid, or get hit while parked te parking pawl isn't gonna wear out and it doesn't wear anything else.

Well if you're on an incline, the only thing keeping your car there is that pin. Best to use the parking brake. That's why they call it that, a "parking" brake.

but still, if that pin is holding your not really "wearing it out".

If you break the parking pawl, its gonna be because you did one really bad thing to it... A transmission that is just at the end of its life from wear isn't likely gonna loose its parking pawl first.

What do you mean I can't put it in reverse, punch it and throw it into park?!?

I take care of my car so well, I do all of those things.  (Well, the opposites...the good parts).

The biggest thing I don't understand is the interior.  My interior is spotless, not a crumb or smudge on anything, I HATE it when it's messy.  How people can drive in their cars like that boggles me.

Actually you probably could
Not a good idea but IIRC the pawl is only applied with a spring in most cases, so it would likely just ratchet over the notches it locks into... (Still a really bad idea)
