QuB network doesn't let you play games and shit online, bear that in mind. Hell, they even block xfire.

Although i might persuade daddy to stick mobile broadband onto my phone contract.

Fallout 3 is 100 hours of SP only, Far Cry 2 is 50 hours of SP as well as substantial MP (if it ever works for you). So you'll get 150 hours of gameplay in (if not more). Well worth the money imo.

At least get Fallout 3 and another gig of RAM.

You could save it. It sounds like you're in college/uni (to me they mean the same, though I understand they're two different things across the pond?) so it may be wise to save what you can.

Edit: Don't know why, didn't notice this.

Go ahead and waste it. You're going to suffer enough from being so lazy, why not add in a shortage of pocket money.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'd get 2GB and a decent single player game, the difference between 2 and 4GB at the moment is neglegable as pretty much nothing will use more than 2GB of RAM anyway and if you're not running at 64bit OS it wont address all of it properly anyway.

Isn't it more like 3-3.5 GB will be addressed, rather than strictly 2 GB? And there are a couple games that actually do benefit from more than 2 gb of ram (CoH comes to mind specifically).

I never said it addressed 2GB, I said anything more than 2GB ispretty much useless as almost nothing uses that much RAM, 32bit addresses about 3.5GB, I have 3gig in this rig here, it has absolutly no effect on performance in anything I do apart from video editing.

The amount of physical memory available in 32 bit while using 4GB depends on what hardware you have, and how much of it you have.

RAM is cheap, so might as well get the 4GB and not have to upgrade it again for a while.
