Thoughts ... was our thrashing of Croatia the turning point in what has been a very poor few years for England?

I'd like to see a good attacking side, lets be positive against what really should be a pretty straightforward win.

He's in form in the premier league, and Walcott aside, he was the best player in Croatia, he will 100% be in the team, if Gerrard is in, it will be at the expense of Barry.

No not a hater, I just don't think that Gerrard and Lampard can play together. You need a holding player, and either Gerrard or Lampard has to be dropped in order to make way. You have to have the right players in the right roles and should never have a formation to merely accommodate big name players, it's something that Steve McClaren was guilty of on a biblical scale and look where that got us.

People keep referring to Lampards league form, which admittedly is good. But whatever way you look at it he has been consistently poor for England (barring a good performance against Croatia), and the times I have seen Gerrard and Barry play together I have been impressed with their partnership, so for me Lampard has to make way.

I hear your point, and yeah mcclaren was definately guilty of that, but surely you have to accomodate for players in form, big name or not....Yep hands up, lampard has been crap for england as of late, but he was superb in Croatia and if you're going to drop him after that, then he may as well give up because he'll never be able to establish his place.

I'm a believer that they can play together, it will just take time and patience from Capello to get it right, that's what he gets paid for. In fact I don't see why all 3 of them can't play, but that would probably in a 4-3-3 at the expense of 1 striker, with cole and walcott either side of Rooney, actually I'd quite like to see that.

Either way, it will be interesting to see how he plays it tonight.

Such a sick team, yet they fail so fucking often. Hopefully now things will start going down well. Everyone seems to be on form and so is the team.

Anyway, either Barry and Lamps or Barry and Gerrard. Hopefully the former. Hopefully not Lamps/Gerrard together. Should be an easy win so I doubt we have to care that much who's playing.
