I'm one. Just came back from cycling. Went to a very steep slope. Came down at i think 30-35mph? Had to brake at the very last moment though.. Using a mountain bike with slicks. Will post pics up later.

Once every other week I ride from college to home. Its about 11.5miles. Takes me about 40 min. to do. You only save about 10 min in a car so its the better option. If you live in the Panhandle Florida area the ridiculous timed stop lights can make you site there for almost 5 min.

Doesn't matter whether you're in a bike or a car here. My friend said he saw an article in the paper about a cyclist that didn't stop for a red light. He got a $98 fine and a 3 demerit pts.

On topic: I took my bike out maybe 5 times this past summer. 7-12 miles each time.

I bike every year the whole summer-3 months per year. Everyday for about an hour and a half.

cycle to uni every day (4 miles) and go out for a ride 2/3 times a week, around 10 miles at a time. theres a nice long slope that lets me hit 51/52 kph, which sets off the radar gun halfway down telling motorists to slow down

I got a Trek road bike with slicks, very nice
Going to Uni (8 miles) takes the same amount of time as it would by car, so I cycle whenever I don't have heavy stuff to carry (musical instruments).

Unfortunately a car cut my path the other day (in daylight, entirely his fault), so I slammed into him, hard...luckily I walked away with only a swollen hand, police and ambulance were called though.

£200+ damage to my bike, but took off the car's wing mirror + damaged two door panels, cost to repair - £3,500!
That'll teach him to LOOK before turning across oncoming traffic.

I'm going to start wearing a hi-vis jacket anyway just to avoid this shit, motorists round here have a tendency to cut you up because they just don't check their mirrors or look where they are going (I do drive also).

Are you sure he was a local what with the high volume of off shore workers that pass through aberdeen? I enjoyed my weekend out in Aberdeen on good friday weekend.

Yep, an onshore engineering guy from the nearby countryside, middle-aged so definitely should have known better.

There are some crap drivers round here, but the road system is also pretty awful in places

Where were you staying in Aberdeen?

When you say "Will post pics up later" do you mean "Never"?

Well, I don't bike professionally, but when im on my way to school, I always overtake those annoying cyclers with their tight clothing, and I love to see their faces when im sitting relaxed, and they are totally exausted, its fun

Your ride to school, versus their training/long commute. It's not all that hard to pass someone pacing themselves.

Editing for ambiguity. It would be sarcasm either way, though considering the precedent, I wasn't sure it would get across.

Cool Haway, I know it Plenty of short skirts around here at night, lol.

Ayumiz, you should try a proper racing bike with locked pedals, damn fast!
30/35 is good though, a few hills round here you can do that on...feels so much faster on a bike than in a car

Because 30Mph is the speed limit in a small town. Not very exciting.

I'm aware of that, point is you don't feel the speed in a car until you go 60+, on a bike 30 feels really fast.

I bought a Trek hybrid for transporting to work. I don't ride for fun too much, though. I mean, going down hills is fun and all, but there aren't many here anyways, and climbing up them is such a bitch. With this bike I can climb up really steep hills somewhat easily, just slowly as anything...
