Anyone else go through this ?

Ever since the corps, I've had this ... I go to bed, maybe 2 or 3 am but turn around and get up at 5 am (thxs to the marines for early wake up routine)

I do this for about 4-5 nights then I usually stay up all night then back to the above

I'm not going to take any meds prescibed or over the counter for this

only one thing i have found that helps.
tylenol PM. i have dealt with this since as long as i can remember though....i remember going to school in 6th grade and only sleeping an hour or so the night before. i think i have adapted, but as im typing this the tylenol PM is working its way through my system.

even when i am physically beat, my head wont turn off. whether its about the market, or new ideas for products...women...all sorts of shit keeps me awake at night.
BUT i also have some of my best ideas at oh dark thirty, so its a trade off lol.

Maybe it's a Marine thing. I got it. I averae an hour or two a night for the last 6 or 7 years. Once a week or so I crash for about 6 hours from complete exhaustion but I go to bed at 10, fall asleep at about 2 or 3 and wake up at 4am like clock work. Its what drove me to drink quite honestly. I really need help.

I might be simplifying it, but have you tried sleeping with the TV on? I think about the audio that's coming out and it takes my mind off of focusing on falling asleep, and it helps me.

I had a baaaaaaaad case of insomnia over the summer. Didn't fall asleep for 3 days straight at one point. Worst experience of my life.

Yeah..

I'll go to bed around 11PM won't fall asleep untill 3AM and I'll wake up at 6AM..

Unless I get a visit from Jack Daniels or Jimmie Beam.. then its bedtime at 3am and wakeup somewhere between 2 and 4 PM the next day..

tried it. Don't work for me. I went to doctor after doctor and they all say I have PTSD but they are wrong because I don't. Actually I don't ever even hardly think about my time in the Corps.

I find the same issue after a long day at work where my head won't turn off.

If you enjoy marijuana then try a hit or two, helps to calm the mind down but not necessarily get you high.

Are we talking a Disturbed jam session or more of a Huey Lewis and the News jam session? Your answer here is crucial, you have been warned.

so say you have it, then whats the solution?
more/different meds?

i have procrastinated on this for a long time. i dont want to do the whole prescription sleep drug thing, cause i dont want to be dependent on a drug to sleep....although i already take tylenol pm all the time. lol pride is a weird thing sometimes...

More of a Metallica (Pre Black Album) and Pantera Jam Session.. with the occasion Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold making apperances.

No sleep is dangerous. Even just a lack of sleep can cause you problems. I would suggest at least speaking to a Doctor about it. They might not recommend meds but some relaxation techniques (better than the nuts in this thread can prescribe you lol)

Ya.. Insomnia sucks..

I get it in waves when I get really stressed out and can't sleep because lots of stuff is running through my head..

I've gone like 3 to 4 days without sleep.. Its at the point where you laying in bed, tired as fuck, but you can't go to sleep.

One night, I tried taking some Nytol.. didn't work very well but I got maybe an hour sleep.. the next night, I took 2 Nytol thinking it would really put me into lalaland.. But it didn't, and I ended up staying up the whole night and then going to school in the morning.. fucking sucked.

The only effective way I've dealt with it is smoking a bunch of pot then heading to bed.

Yeah, people don't really understand when I try to explain to them. I just lay in bed and my mind starts wandering. My dad has problems sleeping too, he has more of an issue with waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep. My problem is just getting to sleep. We've talked about it before, and he says sometimes he'll just start playing golf in his head. He just thinks of a course he's familiar with and just starts thinking about his ideal game. So maybe if you have an activity that doing just calms you down you could try thinking about it. Hasn't worked for me.
