Try other downloads first before coming here, it could well be that the server your downloading off is very busy or that the host of that website paid for a particulary crappy server.

That often happens. What kind of download is it? (One server, torrent, download accelerator...)?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'm network admin in school (they always assign one or two students in computer 1 that title, unless there are only total retards), which means I have full access to the school's 100/100 line whenever I want Direct line to sweden = 6-7ms ping on swedish servers.

And I think you're missing with B and b a bit.

28Mbit here, I get 1.6MB/s down if I'm lucky. Yay for cheap modems. The FUCKING FLASH ROM containing the setup utility broke, so I can't turn on ADSL2+.

Lucky you getting all of it.

We got the 15/2 package for FiOS and the downloads are at the very most 1.9MB, the uploads are like 500KB.

Yeah, that happens. I doubt anything's wrong unless it plummets to... 10 KB/s or so.

Edit: Whoa. 999 days. On the brink...

You're reading wrong.

ISP's list their speeds in megaBITS per second, Firefox and 90% of apps show their speeds in megaBYTES.

So you getting 1.9mBytes down is actually MORE than you should be getting.
The up is 2x what you should have.

TBH, I'm quite happy with my 15/1 From Shaw cable in Canada.

That's about one megabyte per second.

I don't think anyone's answered the OP yet, but it could drop of many reasons, first one I could think of is your ISP's speed throttling technology, what tends to happen with me is that downloads start at 750kB/s, then quickly fall down to 500(My set speed) and bounce around there.

P.S. This was a couple years ago, before I got Extreme with "Speedboost" it gives me an extra 5mb/s for the first 5 seconds of any connection, which fools speedtest.net and makes pages load faster.
