Yep. There's a lot of stupid mechanics out there. A good way to tell is if one calls a corvette a piece of shit that falls apart, and then neglects to state why. Have you ever driven a corvette Vicktor? Have you even been in one? I'm betting you haven't. As far as me doing "odd jobs" that is bullshit. BEP is comparable to lingenfelter except they don't stick to chevy's. I don't care what you think of my experience this is hilarious s2000 vs. corvette lol.

Anyways, enjoy driving the s2000 around, knowing it recently placed 4th in an actual survey of the most popular cars gay people drive.

Oh what sort of "race car" are you building? This should be funny.

One thing you forgot to mention is that the S2000 holds their value too well. I still see to occasional 1999-2000 Honda S2000 still cost near or around 20k.
Depends on where you are shopping. A friend of mine picked up a mint 2001 two years ago for $12k.

Evilhamburglar wrote:

Hahahaha the s2000 costs 20k too? They look like they should sell brand new for about $5,000. Oh yeah and I could care less if your a mechanic, I know plenty of them, and I used to work at a speed shop. By the way, you cant seem to name one fact of why the corvette is a piece of shit. Ive said it before and you didn't respond: How is it I know 2 people with  '98 vette's that have had zero problems. The only thing they've changed is tires and fluids. One would think being a piece of shit that falls apart around you, it wouldn't even run at the ten year mark.

Oh really viktor, well I would love to see that comptech car beat a lingenfelter vette.
Good, you know of two cars out of how many millions? My family's Chrysler Grand Voyager back home should have been dead after 6 years according to all the test surveys, but my dad has managed to keep it running and it's a 1990. Explain that, because we all think it's possessed.

And it doesn't matter if the S2000 is "gay" on some "gay man's car list". The Miata is always trashed as a girl's car, too. Then look at race tracks and see who's driving what and you'll suddenly think of the S2k and Miata a whole lot gayer. Friend of mine had a fully built Miata race car and passed Z06s at Road Atlanta regularly.

Surprisingly, the miata did not make the list. And I know of more I'm just enjoying the fact he can't even put up facts against those two.

Because there are no facts. But STATISTICALLY, Corvettes have a poor reliability record. Just pick up a Consumer Reports, what more do you need?

For the Society of Engineers Formula Hybrid competition.

Its a new competition based off of the pre-existing FSAE competition.

^^^ FSAE

We start with about the same rulebook, but build the car around a gas/electric drive train.

Still in the development stages, we don't start building for a bit... but here is our chassis

Finished cars from other schools

That last car shown ran 0-60 in about 4 seconds... but sucked in the endurance portion.

The official webpage for the competition

The website for FSAE, the competition this was built off

Not quite what I expected. Is traction control allowed? Who gets to drive it?

As far as that 0-60 time.....not very fast. How much does it weigh?

By the way, if you ever get the chance to drive a Z06, I'm sure your opinion of them will be a lot different.

You say a 0-60 time of 4 seconds isn't very fast? Dude, do you realize what the hell you are saying? It takes almost $100k in a normal market car to get that kind of performance from the factory.

Yea, that link - referring to the fucking C6 Corvette. But the OLDER Corvettes, the models you are citing ... geeze.

I am trying to get into Consumer Reports' site, but you need to subscribe to check out the ratings on the used cars.

I never said anything about corvettes, I love those cars and particularly the older ones are amazing deals.

I just said that if you base weather you like a car on who it impresses, and dislike it because "the homos drive it" then your a tool.

Capn, especially for the money C4 vettes are great... I used to autocross with some lady who had one and she was quite regularly FTD.

FHSAE, traction control... I don't remember seeing anything in the rules against it, but we lack EE majors currently. Its probably not too necessary in most cars, the 4 second 0-60 was a bit faster then typical... They had I believe some where north of 80 super capacitors set up to just dump power through the huge ass motor.

I doubt we will have TC, but *fingers crossed* we can hopefully pull off using dual perm motors, 1 to each wheel with electron torque distribution to act as a differential... that will be pretty cool if we get it working. We allegedly just got a guy working on his masters in EE looking for a research project...

The students design, build and race it... so who ever is fastest will be the driver. There are a few events and rules dictate that we have I belive one per event. I MAY be the driver for the autocross event, but it would be nice if the team turns out to have a better driver (I should get to drive it enough in testing, not worried about being a driver for the comp.)

BTW a C6 vette has a 4.7 second 0-60 time according to edmunds...

I wasn't comparing the time to a vette, a stock corvette only has 345HP that 0-60 time makes sense. I know what fast 0-60 times are, it doesnt take 100k to achieve it either. My Yamaha R6 does it in 3.2 seconds, and that was only $9,000.

Anyways nismo, good luck on your search for reports that don't exist. I was surprised to see the s2000 got number two, and I don't dislike it because of the homo car thing, I dislike it because it looks like shit, looks like honda tried really hard to copy the porsche look.

R6 is a motorcycle, and FHSAE cars are heavier and limited to 250cc IC engine...

The S2000 looks nothing like a porsche?

To say that looks nothing like a porsche is ridiculous.

They obviously tried hard to copy the design.

Right. A maxed out Miata versus a stock Z06, and I bet it was still close.

depends on the track. Goto an autocross and lightly modded miatas will beat vettes all day long.

Actually, breezed by him without much effort. When you're smaller and have more traction, you can hold quite a lead on road courses through the turns.

yeah, particularly the older miatas are about 1000lbs lighter then the Vette and they have a damn fine suspension set up.

They really are fast little cars, just down a bit on horse power and "street cred".
