Of the $250 billion, which will come from the $700 billion bailout approved by Congress, half is to be injected into nine big banks, including Citigroup, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, officials said. The other half is to go to smaller banks and thrifts. The investments will be structured so that the government can benefit from a rebound in the banks’ fortunes.
The money has not worked into the system yet. This plan authorizes money to be spent in larger increments. The previous plan was 250 billion. I can't understand why we would do this without having more accountability FIRST. I read (almost) the entire bill and to be frank I was horrified. It saves the banks if they need it, but that doesn't mean they (the banks) still can't take your collateral/assets. Even though you as a taxpayer paid for their bailout.I don't know about you but I call that robbery. This isn't a welfare state. This isn't unfettered capitalism. This is something that presents itself as something much darker than both. It's a disgrace, and both of our Presidential Candidates supported it.

So the financial crisis is over and the economic crisis have started ... we passed a similar bill to Norwegian banks today, the government loans the banks about $70 billion in government bonds and at the same time commits the banks to treat people and businesses with respect ...

The banks gets a second chance and with that they have to give their customers a second chance ...

There is more to it - I mean even more disgrace to spread on your toast and eat it. It's all good! They're allowing the banks to delay the market bottom with ever more creative accounting procedures. How you say?

This will allow them to over-value assets on books - so that reserve ratios look better than the actually are. I say fuck it. Let's just do away with reserve requirements altogether - if we're going to allow banks to create a fiction from fiction let's make it a complete fiction. What's the problem then? No more credit crisis. Problem solved. Put a gun in my mouth and pull the trigger. It's all good! I'm rambling am I not?

I'd be interested in reading your plans verbiage. We were told similar. However looking in depth I don't see it. I'm not an expert. But I do have a reasonably sound financial background..lol. I did not see much in the way of consequence with ours.

Someone is intentionally trying to slam all of the worlds currency. Time to face it.

I was surprised to see gold fell (big time) the last few days. It looks like it's making somewhat of a comeback today.

I guess that's the easy way to put it. It allows them to extend their poor banking practices.. Just give them more fake money and allow them to acquire more real property. Over the last year banks didn't want your home. They wanted to keep you in it since they at least had a chance of you catching up on your payments.. and of course house values are on the decline. Now they are in a position to say fuck you, get out, we don't care. They take the loss, your home, and then they are reimbursed by the taxpayers. Win Win. Believe me, I see it happening already. Not all bankers are like this though. I've personally dealt with some who are fighting hard for their clients. Loan consultants rely on repeat business/referrals and a lot of them are genuinely concerned. Upper level.. ntsmch

More bailout news!!!

It's hey, no rules; or is it gold rules?; or rather "what rules?" - argh!; I mean here's a lot of fecking money ... now spend it please, as you see fit.

Banks Weighing Other Uses for Bailout Money
Several major U.S. banks are leaning toward spending a portion of their federal rescue money on acquiring other financial firms rather than for issuing new loans, the primary purpose of the government's $250 billion initiative to invest in banks.

Oh FFS. That has nothing to do with this. The RNC bought clothes for her and her family. From places she would never have shopped at prior. So yeah...she can certainly still relate to the average American.

What's next is getting my vehicles and assets out of my name so the don't get seized in judgement and filing BK.

I'll get a night job and move my equipment to my garage. What work that comes along I will do, and I will begin the process of starting a new company.

The kicker is my supplyhouse. Get this, I have a 2k credit limit there. When things started to go bad my balance crept up to 20k. I asked them to put my on a cod basis, but my credit limit of 2k ballooned to a 45k bill. I guess they figure  they were making good coin on the interest. Then, in the middle of the worst construction year in my lifetime, they demand payment in full, or else.

The only way I can come up with 45k is to rob banks.

So now they want my equipment, robbing me of my ability to feed my family.

They must not realize that there is nothing more dangerous than a man who feels like he has nothing left to lose.

While I am not there yet, I can feel it coming.
Wow, that is some nasty shit.
Good luck, I hope things work out.

The installation business is in the toilet. I believe salvation lies here, on the internet.

No other installer that I know of packages and ships stuff to other companies all across the country.
I can will be a survivor.

Go virtual man.

You've got the first step - something to sell.

And the second - a website.

Can't recall from when I looked at it, but if your website isn't already set up to handle distance selling, I'm sure asking the right people the right questions will get it set up so that is.

(he says in a way that he hopes will avoid him breaking the forum advertising rules (hint (though you may need to ask more than one person the right kinda questions))).

Step 3 - email every company/builder/distributor/retailer/consumer of your product that you can think of, tell them the truth, but in a 'press release' kinda way, and, obviously, include your website address.

Step 4 - hopefully, profit.

Step 5 - good times again.

I have a couple of short videos I took with my phone that are uploading to youtube as I type.

usmarine mentioned branching out, and I agree. It's been something I have been working on for years.

If I had only abandoned installations four years ago and plunged headlong into the supply side, if I had only not tried to hold on. Of course, I had to; the installation side was Kurts baby, and after he died last year I was finally free to make all the decisions.
Keeping employees around hoping things are going to get better is a sure way to go broke.

This is a concept I came up with, based on a popular motif for a gutter bracket. Most cast gutter brackets are for half round raingutter, but 85% of gutters out there are ogee style, or a crown molding shape, aka " k " style. So I adapted one to fit most existing K style gutters.

https://i35.tinypic.com/spzyas.jpg

https://i37.tinypic.com/21o6ipl.jpg

The idea is that many people out there would like to upgrade, but don't want to scrap what they have. These should be able to be installed retro to a house.

Those patterns in the pictures above are laid on a table and a box is placed around it. It is filled with sand and the sand is molded to the shape of the piece being cast.

After we " finish " them by sanding the imperfections out and grinding away any flash they are tumbled for a few hours.

Finished product on a house. The curved gutters are a super sub specialty too.
