With bf2s leaderboards you can make your own leaderboard on wich you can place your friends and when they are in a server you will see the white dot behind their names go green and when selecting it you'll see on wich server they are currently playing.
With bf2tracker you can make an buddylist and then it also will be displayed where they are playing, a lot of server details there.
