So lately ive been facing the fact that i might not be able to join the Army when im older. I was born without my right pectoral(i think thats what its called). When i was younger my mom told me i might not be able to join but i just thought no way. The military is the only career i have ever been interested in. Does anyone know if it is possible to join without having the muscle?

Agreed. If you can pass the medicals and go through basic and all that without even telling them, then fuck it. It's not even a problem, you can do everything a normal soldier can.TheAussieReaper wrote:

Then again, you might not be able to, even if you do pass everything without telling them. Then the problems will start. Big problems.
Also, I doubt it would be hard to mask something like that.
Then again, you might aswell try, you need to look out for yourself in life because nobody else will. Do what you need to do to get further in life. Do what you need to do to get into the Military, it's your life long dream after all.

Ive heard about where a guy had asthma once where he lied about it and he had an attack and almost died in the barracks and they let him stay because he had heart.

EDIT: i read somewhere that someone in the Air Force had it but he had some fat on him and noone ever knew.

I've always heard you should tell the truth and nothin' but. Mainly because if you ever apply for security clearances, they do a really really deep investigation of your background. Think guys in uniforms or black suits visiting your high school friends to ask if you ever did weed.
If they find out you lied about a medical condition there's some potentially bad fallout for it. But frankly, if you could pass the APFT I don't see why you wouldn't be able to enlist...

I would speak unofficially to recruiters over the internet, you can do that on your US military sites I guess?
Once you bring it up officially and they say no that's it, so ask online. If the answer is yes then yay. If it's no then try to get in anyway and don't mention it.

That's a good idea. The official Army forums also have recruiters that post there. They'd be able to give you a more definite answer than most of us can.jord wrote:

ill probbly do that. im gonna ask my jrotc AI tomorrow and see what he says. he allways helps the seniors who join the National Guard with there stuff.
