Hi guys,

I´ma need ur help again.

My new shiny Mp3 player arrived a few days ago (some might remember) and it´s so beautiful, I wanna take it out to dinner just to get it into bed.

Anyways, as great as the player itself is, the software (Samsung Media Studio) is meh. It´s usable, but not really handy and somehow clunky.
I usually use WInAmp for my music management, but for some unknown reasons it crashes everytime I plug my toy in. It´s a known issue amongst the Winamp forum, but theres no fix thus far.

So I´m looking for an alternative music player to manage both my music and the player. I tried songbird so far, but I wasn´t convinced.

Important to me is a Player that lets me sort by folder in addition to the standard sort by name/artist/album, but so far not even winamp has a function like that.

Anyone got any ideas? Input will be appreciated!

Windows Explorer?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Don't know if it can manage MP3 players, but Foorbar2000 can sort music by folder.
Look here for player extensions to transfer files.

Somehow the WMP is buggy on my system. Random Crashes, fucked up media library and it keeps running in the background even after I closed it with the red x. I need to delete every item form the playlist in order to shut it down completely. Weird.

Sis you could try installing a newer WinMedia player version. On XP winPlayer 9 is the default version I think so you could try installing 10 or 11 dunno which one is the latest version.

SongBird ftw - it's made by Mozilla.

It has an add-on (same add-on system as FireFox) that lets you brouse your music in folders as well.

Funny that - how 11 is more recent than 10 - where do Microsoft get their crazy version numbering ideas from!?!

Indeed, I had just gotten used to NVidia's numbering, and Microsoft come up with this nonsence

Problem is, I have 11. Maybe I´ll check if there are some updates for it from microsoft, long time since I did some. I don´t even know whow to google for that bug. "WMP keeps playing after closing"? lol.

Might I inquire, where to obtain such add-on
All the open-sourceyness sondbird sports confuses me a bit.

Gotta go to work, I´m check it out afterwards.

I use iTunes to play my music and MediaMonkey to fix my Art, Tags and sync to my YP-T10.

Only thing I use Media Studio for is to convert and sync XviD's to the player(Which works very well assuming you have the proper codecs to play the file in WMP)

AInt that a bit complicated, using 3 programs for one player? Anyways, Media Studio is the only tool to convert vids for the player right? Cause if I have MS installed, it fucks up my winamp which I use to play music. I´m not watching anything on it right now, cause I´m using it mainly on the bike or while excercising, but as far as I know the only alternative is is successor, "Emodio". It´s still in beta though and as far as google research told me, it´s pretty crappy.

~edit~ lolololol, surfing bf2s while standing at the reception counter! sunday mornings are a waste if spend working... ~edit~

Well to be honest I wasn't sure if 11 was out or not. Never used WMP till now when its the only player that I can use to upload music on my MP3 player.

Meh, doesn´t work.

Either I use the directory browser add-on which is only available for songbird version 0.7 which doesn´t recognize my mp3 player

or

I use songbird 1.0 which recognizes my player but has no directory/folder add-on.
