The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

OK - what the fuck? Why the hell do you need something like that? There comes a point where it just becomes pointless. I mean, unless you plan on building an electric car ...

It's fun, they're penis enlargers, they're free, and I can ride out a day of lost power. Can hook them up to the fridge if needed.

lol, go play some sports or something, hit the gym. Being a nerd is something you shouldn't be proud of, unless you want to wake up someday in your mid thirties, and blow your own head off

Honestly, Freezer, they are free and whatever, but I've seen your room and it looks like you are a bit cramped for space. My suggestion to you, sell all the batteries and buy a diesel fuel generator. They work in Africa during black outs and in the middle of the jungle, it should do a good for you in Finland.

Not as fun.

Besides, I already have a 2kW generator lying around

I like batteries and such because it's (fairly) discrete, uninterrupted power, and they're good to have around. Awesome for hobby stuff, as you can suck virtually unlimited power out of them.

Actually it is. Face it, nerds and geeks run the world. Knowing how to fix all sorts of technical equipment is invaluable. Knowing your computers is a good advantage in the job market
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Yea, Freezer can handle the power plants ...

I'm not saying it's a horrible idea, Freezer, but there has to be a more functional way around the problem. Perhaps instead of having a room full of batteries, you might have just one huge battery (like those you just got), tucked away under a desk (or even in the space between the roof and ceiling?) and hidden. That way you have all the necessary power in the event that something happens and you also get your room back.

Who cares. as long as a "nerd" is still sociable, goes to partys, hangs with mates etc... who cares if they know their way around a computer or in a freezers case a nuclear reactor

I personally don't see anything wrong with being a nerd. So long as you can maintain a normal social life or whatever and aren't one of those people who essentially live their entire lives in front of the screen.

Wrong. A diesel generator is about 100x more fun than a battery, because it has an engine. Also, you shouldn't be messing around with that much electricity, you are going to kill yourself, of that I have no doubt.
A generator engine isn't very fun, as there isn't much tweaking to do. If you make it go faster, you don't get more electricity, just a higher voltage. And that fries your stuff. Batteries are like big-ass babies, they need a lot of care and loving, or they'll feel bad.

And I got tired of the main UPS shining it's battery status in my eyes every night when I try to sleep. Now I have an awesome humming locker.
