but we do not know how to overclock, so the e8400 wouldn't be a good choice, also where we're going to buy the stuff, they dont have samsund HDD.

Overclocking is easy, surely many of us can assist in that. And E8400 is very good at stock clocks too. As for the HD, Western digital is a brand I'd recommend if Samsungs aren't available.

I also recommend you order form www.newegg.ca

I can fix up a set of parts from there later on.

The E8400 is pretty much the fastest dual core there is. You can always go with a Q9x50 series CPU I guess

Get a WD or seagate HDD then. I can't believe that they don't sell samsung HDDs though ...

Looking good. I'd recommend get that ram 2x for 4GB. Getting an F7P is also a good idea. Way better than the stock cooler, comes with great thermal paste pre-applied and quieter.

Why would you ever get 4GB ram if you're going to use XP? (like our friend said on top)
Xp can only work with a maximum of 3GB, the other GB will be useless.

64bit XP supports up to 16GB ram.

even with 32bit it will be able to "use" well more than 3GB. Exactly as much as Vista 32 bit at that

(yes, I know 32bit = 4BG address space, blah blah)

That's my head repeatedly hitting my keyboard.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

ya, with a 512mb GPU, he should be able to use the ~3.2GB or whatever that aren't reserved for I/O.

Looks good, although you could drop the P5Q Deluxe for P5Q Pro. Less price, no significant difference (3 PCI-E lanes not really needed, especially considering one only takes a single slot GPU and the third is x4).

now he said that he wants a quad core, not a duo core
and he wants a good motherboard.
and he wants DDR3...
i tried to to explain him that the e8400 is really fast...
he gave me hint about having a budget of 1500.
maybe he wants the best on the market

That's ... well ... stupid

None of today's games can take proper advantage of 4 cores. A dual core will outperform quads in gaming, mainly due to higher clock speeds
P5Q / P5Q PRO / deluxe are great motherboards. I wouldn't know of any board that's substantially better
DDR3 holds no performance advantages over DDR2. The higher clock speeds are negated by higher timings. In either case, Merom based CPUs (aka Core2) aren't really bandwidth limited anyhow.

What's been listed is great, what he's asking for is pointless e-peen. Quad core would be a waste and DDR3 is a waste.

Get this case instead. Paying >$30 for some green plastic is just ridiculous. As for aftermarket cooling, get a Freezer 7 Pro or Thermalright Ultra Extreme if you're willing to cash out.

For the cooler:

https://mato78.com/images/stories/Kaavio.png
blue for idle, red for load. THe CPU used in the test is Q6700 @ stock.

According to that test, the Xigmatek HDT1283 was best for the price, but if a little more cash is not a problem, the NH-U12P is pretty much the best. And if you will not overclock, Freezer 7 Pro will do it fine.
